SO the fixer upper has given me a couple hundred trouble free miles until last night. Went for a 80 mile ride. stopped at a few watering holes in between and thing was all good. Start on first pull every time. Was loving life. So Im almost home thought I would stop up in my hayfield take a pee have a smoke. Do that ,sled is off for maybe 5 min. Go to start and not a damn thing. Wont fire no spark. Gauge lights are barely flickering. Usually they are pretty bright when I pull her over. So go get my ranger and pull her home. So discouraged just want to burn it to ground. Got fresh snow coming fri so riding should be stellar this weekend. Go figure. Shouldnt be any wire rub inspected all that under motor last winter taped up and loomed. Why would stator keep pooping out??? I put dual headlight on but am running the plasma 35 watt bulbs. Also have a led trailer light that I rigged up for tailight and led gauge lights. So I wouldnt think draw should be a issue. It was a used stator but I dont think it was that old of one. I tried running test on stator today. Was cold in garage so was having trouble getting good readings. So got things warming up and will try later. Any suggestions out there?? Doesnt seem normal to have two stators poop the bed.
what year is this sled u talk of cause a 98 -99 srx cannot support a dual beam h light if it does it wont 4 long trust me then u put all the other stuff on wont work 4 long on a used stator maybe a brand new oem one but a used one is still at best 12 plus years old jmo to much loadyami1 said:SO the fixer upper has given me a couple hundred trouble free miles until last night. Yamadogg, It can if you use two 35 watters like he did. I have the same setup along with a handful of other members. Those two bulbs only draw 5 more watts than the single on high and he has offset some by using leds. I think he has other problems or just a bad used stator.
maybe so on the voltage but the hand and thumb made mine skip until i shut them off or unpluged one bulb in the headlight on 3 of sleds that we have set up with the double headlight ... is that the sled u speak of in ur avatar?

How weird. I dont know, mine did have a new stator replaced when the original owner had it along with the wiring harness fixed because he said his lights were fliickering and fouling plugs. I've never had the engine apart, maybe the stator was updated with new one and all the parts to do It? Yup thats the one. It has the viper seat now with the two taillight bulbs but put true led's in it. Before my light used to dim when I hit the brakes (stock) and now it dont even with the extra headlight.

yeah I have put the 35 watt piaa lights in it, Have no flickering or other issues like that. Im at a loss for sure. Any help would be appreciated. Talked to guy I got the stator from he said it wasnt from a high mileage motor. By the way sled is a 97 sx.

Might add I did a ohm test on stator. All check out except source coil again. Turning machine over I only get 15 ohm or so out of source coil. Maybe is a bum stator . I dont know

if this is anything like the stuff i have worked on your lighting coil is a completely different circuit. im thinking your sled should run with the lighting coil on the work bench, but i have never worked on my srx (besides carbs)
someone correct me if im wrong

My 97 sx700 died on me years ago and after replacing a lot of electrical parts it ended up being a rub through under the motor.

Yeah inspected under motor last year cause I had motor out. Lights were good no flickering or dimming with brake light on. And like someone said lighting is on a different curcuit on stator. So just a bit dumbfounded. Any one else out there have repeated source coil issues on stator and reason why??

So I gotta ask. Did I do something wrong on this site to offend people?? Seems like the last few times I have asked a ?? I get very few responses. Thank you to the ones that have. Just kinda cracks me up how some people ask something and be post golore and others get no reply at all. Is there reason??? Realize guys are out riding to ,or am I being a vagina here??

Vagina. Here the thing about forums. Guys will answer questions they know about and are comfortable giving advice. Usually mechanical stuff will see a lot of response. Other times like yours its a question about electricity and very few can offer answers so you get very little discussion. lighten up Yam it all good. ---mac---
