ok so i just picked up a 2001 sxr 600 tripple they guy who i bought it from didnt run it for a year well cleaned the carbs and still couldnt get it to fun unscrewed my center spark plug connected it to the lead pressed it against the block and pulled the cord to make sure i was recieving spark.. well it got spark and the engine turned over no prob..
so that was yesterday so today i went to start her up again and ten pulls later i decided to unscrew the plug and put it against the block again to see if that would help and it started right up and i was able to ride all day today with no problems any ideas on what the prob could be????

Sounds like the problem went away. Unless it happens again I would say your carbs were empty after you cleaned them and it took awhile to fill the bowls up. I usually put a little gas down the spark plug holes for the first start of the year. If you can get the engine to fire for just a little bit it's like pulling it a couple hundred times and that help get everything flowing.
Everytime I clean my carbs, I have to pull it probably 15-20 times until enough fuel is built up to start the sled. The first few pulls Ill hold the throttle open too to get some extra fuel in the cylinders. You may have also had a small clog in one of your jets that blew out after multiple pulls. After I run it for the first time, she starts up 1-2 pulls.

when carbs are empty and instead of pulling 100 times, remove all plugs first..then pull about 10 time.Easier this way and not fighting compression. This will fill your float bowls.Put plugs back..choke it and it should fire in a few pulls.Worked for me this past Fall..You can even sprinkle a little gas down cylinders before you put plugs back.
