Broke a belt today at full throttle , and the motor just revved to the sky, hit the kill switch hit the key and nothing it was still was revving. Stuck my gloves in the air box and put the choke on and It finally stopped. What's up with that didn't hurt the motor , I drove it home what u think Markrd350

I have seen that exact thing happen. The engine is running without spark due to the igniting of what is called "free radicals". When it happens it is often thought to be the engine dieseling because of heat or a hot spot in an engine, but it is something different than that. Honda was studying it several years ago and was developing and testing gas engines that ran without spark and had plans of the production and sale of them. I had recently wondered what became of that program - there must have been some reason that it did not work out.

My buddy's Ski-Doo did that once after he puked all the coolant from an arent stud into the HX and managed to get stopped by furiously pumping the primer bulb.
Guess them free radicals don't like fuel.

Here is some reading about it. Apparently Honda is no longer working on it, but others are.
