2003 viper .broke A belt at full throttle and the motor just revved to the sky. Hit the kill switch and the key still revving. I put my gloves in the air box and turned the choke on finally stopped . Dint hurt the motor , I drove it home after putting in new plugs to get it started, and the a belt,
. What's up with that?

:o|

Clean the carbs and check the carb boots for leaks before you do serious engine damage.

What do the plugs and piston crown look like? If you don't want me to help, just let me know. I had to clean my carbs 3 times in a row before they stayed clean... but what do I know? You obviously have things under control.

Why u got to be like that, just looking for some help ,plugs look good but I didn't look at them when I got home
I can see how a leak on the boots could make it rev, but what your thinking on dirty carbs

I would say u primary stuck in gear when the belt flew out ! Broke into the igingintio. Cycle from the high rev hey it's a theory would check cables for sticking too and if u rigged it up right last one u did the carbs? But yet I would still think the over rev would eventually cause the stator to output more power then usual causing the over load to the kill and switch key wires

I will check tors thanks didn't think of that, and I will check the cable too, but as it worked fine right after I don't think it was a cable but it always better to check. Thanks for everyone's input

Check everything suggested and report back. We'll go from there to help you troubleshoot.

Just hope it doesn't stick when u start ur sled ! I would be using my parking brake to start it! I heard of some ghost riding on the start up but mostly likely ur good !

Top Gun was right. There is a term for it that I can't remember but the motor was indeed running like a diesel. They can run without spark if the conditions are right.

Your other thread has a more detailed post explaining why that happened, nothing mechanical caused it...... I remember a buddies banshee that did it also. Makes ya freak out for a few seconds, engine just screamin.

Most often called Engine runaway, run on or Dieseling.....

Sounds like it free rev'd. Check for air leaks. Mainly caused by a lean condition.
