i have an 03 viper with about 7,000 miles i got it for 1500 buck i figured y not took it to the hills last year and after about 150 miles it blew up i re built the motor and got to looking at the reeds and the cylinder that melted down that reed has a hole in it i am putting new v force reeds in and i was just wondering because my dad has a v max with about as many miles on it he has owned it since new is there a time to replace reeds do they wear out after so many miles is it something he should think about doing

I just check them at the begining of the season, first thing look; carefully to see if they are all sealing, then pull each one back abit and see if it snaps back into place, all with the same snap, then check each coner for any pitting. if all those 3 things are good your good to go. Now during the season if the sled starts to get harder to start, this could be an indicater that the old reeds need to be looked at.Hope this helps

If you haven't already bought the V Force 3's, don't waste your money. They do more for motors that have had some work done to them. Stock Viper reeds will do very well and alot less money.

I put Carbon Tech Reeds in my SXR600 many years ago.Checked them the other day..they are still in mint shape. They are a nice reed.
On my SRX I already am changing reeds 2nd time around with the stock ones. The Carbon Tech Reeds really would be nice in the SRX..your choice I guess..

Vipers are known to be tough on reeds. I've replaced a few of them before. Even had one reed break half a pedal off once.

The Vmax, those should be fine but you can always check those too.

I would say u need to add some power valves to that viper ! Boyson reeds work good it should meet ur needs proper tuning good gas would be the best replace and ride! If u buy reed cages I would look for v force Reed not delta 3 heard they are not durable ! Go used cages ! new what the since some idiot sold his machines for a few hundred bucks prob cause he blew the engine! U know the sled shops have a lot of sh**t of u know what ur looking for save money do ur research
