don't raise the back end up to high when bleeding..are exchangers all warm ????

exchangers are warm 212 f seems really warm to me and it dont get that hot on the aftermarket gage when the light comes on maybe i got a janky light? so as long as its under 212 im good??...

I also have a temp guage on my 2002 SRX....the cooling systems are slightly different but the operating temps should be similar.

Once my sled is warmed up and being riden the guage indicates 130' - 140'F.

The Yamaha temp lights usually come on when temps are above 190'F[approx]

I would be concerned if your temp guage is indicating above 170'F under normal riding conditions.

Sounds like air bubble. Try jacking up the front. start sled. add fluid. sqeeze hose, lift hose higher than any other part of cooling system.repeat.

When I fill one of these sleds with antifreeze I measure from the floor up to the fill cap with a level and a tape measure and set the back of the sled up so the bleeder in the back is 1 inch below the fill cap then I take out BOTH bleeders the one on the engine head and the one in the back I put a rag around the one on the head and I fill it up really slow just trickle it in when it starts to come out the bleeder on the head with no air bubbles in it install the bolt then go back to filling it, remember really slow and when it starts to come out the bleeder in the back let it run out good with no air bubbles then install bolt, then make sure you got antifreeze in the plastic res. up to the fill line and run it, keep an eye on the res. the first ride it will go down a little bit.

That's odd some times ie even wonder if my idiot lights even work. I the 3 years I have had the sled both have never came on. Is that common or am I the idiot? :P not even the low oil light so I have no clue if they even work

I have owned at least 10 Yamaha sleds in my life and I have only had the temp light come on one time and that was on the 4th of july with my old 89 exciter, we were drunk.....lol
