Hello Everyone!

I recently bought an -02 Viper, with an broken engine.

And I have a 700 redhead engine (with harness) in the garage, so my question to you pro's on this forum is.

Can I make this work? with the gauge and all?
Or should I just sell the redhead and rebuild the other engine?

One thing I have already noticed is that is it diffrent stator:s on the engines.

Best regards from Sweden!

U just look up the year of the motor and get the Cdi for maybe 100 bucks provided the mounts match up

if it is dual bulb, you can make everything work, even your cooling system though you will have a lower powered motor when done.

Cool!

How much work is that? if it happens to be a dual bulb ?

I do know that the front bulk head motor mounts on the viper have 2 bolts on each mount and the redheads use only one. You may have to grab a drill?....I am not sure.

I would suspect after the transplant you will need to figure out clutching/gearing. Do you have primary for red head or at least the 8CH weights? Being unsure of what red head came out of or what gearing it was pushing I would think its gonna be a doggy at best with stock viper gearing.

I have a complete redhead, with the primary and I also have PSI pipes to the motor.
but of course I have to fine tune everything :)

@SX600abuser, I will make my own mounts :)

Sounds like you have a good hand on it should not be a hard swap 8ch weights blow 8df should be in your sxr setup now. Your pipes should fit to. I would just use your sxr gears and chain would work great so now u have a 700 venom.

Well, Im just worried for the electrical bit, with the gauge and so.. :)

on a dual bulb, search superventure for some more reading.

I did the reverse with out the better cooling. I used a viper/rx1 gauge on my venture03 dual bulb.
what I needed to add was the three wires that go to the speed sensor, ground power and sensor pickup as I remember. your viper harness will have this part already.
I also had to move some wires around in the hood harness of the viper so that the plug in would work and had to add the extra wires into the plug of the venture to go to the viper hood harness. these were the temperature sensing wire from your temp sensor and the sense wire from the speedo pickup.
you can run a dummy sensor or wire in a resistor to make either the gauge or cdi box think the motor is warm.
you will want the bump stop from a sx for the back of the motor. you might be able to use the viper box, if not, you could use the sx bottom with the uppers of the viper.

Thanks for all your answers!
Have some time in the garage to make this work now.
