Ok so I had the wire out last year and fixed a rub through. My cousin thought he would help me and run the wire back under the engine while I was at work. Well apparently he had it to close to the exhaust. Well I burnt threw some wires. Where do you guys route your wire harness above the engine, pics would be awesome thanks.

I ran mine along the bulkhead between the clutches and engine. Just wire tied it up tight and out of the way.

IMO - running the harness on top is asking for trouble as it puts it closer to the pipes. The original problem with the harness wasn't because of it's location/route, it's that it wasn't protected from abrasion between the stand-offs.

I would recommend encasing the harness in hard plastic split convolute commonly used in automotive and easily found at most parts stores. Then route it back in it's original location using the stand-offs provided.

I also recommend removing ALL of the original tape and inspect every inch of every wire to ensure there are no breaks or worn through insulation then retape before putting it into the convolute.

I did this same thing 2 years back after my rebuild.Got about 4 miles from home and started to cut out on me.Thought I blew my motor.Took me a while to get home,on and off..found out 3 wires had the plastic burned and they started arching.Couldn't figure it out until I ran the motor in the dark and saw the arching.Fixed it and now re-routed up and over the pull start, away from exhaust pipes...

Thanks for the input guys. Blue you got a picture of that?

Ok well let me ask this... Once you went over pull start/recoil where did it go? Seems lol it would then get close to pipes when hoods down.

just right above the recoil, below the frame.Exhaust is far enough away from that point. There is still the coolant lines tucked in there as well..no issues for me now.
