Ok, no question this is the first 4 stroke that can do every thing, got the looks, got the power, got the handling, got the bump capablity, got the off trail ablity, got the reliablity, anyone know what the weight is?? If she is under 500 that would seal the deal.

Rumor is 110 lbs lighter than the Nytro. This sled will be the real deal! The 140 hp engine in a chassis of that weight is going to pull so hard it will be crazy. Should make a really fun sled of someone that like to leave their sleds stock!

I dont see how that rumor could possibly be true, lets look at data we have:
2013 nytro, 3 cyl engine, 512lb dry with about 572lb wet ready to ride
2013 a/c f1100, (same chassis the new viper uses), 2 cyl engine, 518lbs dry, 598lbs wet ready to ride
so you add another cylinder to the engine and your gonna come up with LESS weight? I dont think so.
rumors usually are just that, we shall see the weight soon, it cant be 110 lbs lighter then a nytro, that means it would be 462lbs ready to ride..........
they are with artic cat now ..its gonna be alots of cat sled with yamaha genesis motor
Well that will probably be a good thing for the CATS, shouldnt have to tow as many as them home now. Also the ergonomics of the cat chassis should help compliment the yamaha engines.
Now if Yamaha would only smarten up and make another 2 stroke, theyd be golden. I dont care what engine or chassis it has im not paying $14 G's for a sled. But I would pay $10 G's for a phazer chassis with a 700 tripple in it

I agree , I own 2 - 2002 vipers since I bought them both new from the dealer, best sleds I ever had.
I was super excited when I saw this 2014 viper news release ( i was thinking, maybe time for a new yamaha..........until I saw the price..... I bought those sleds for $6400 each - new in 02......I don't know about you guys , but my salary has not doubled in the last 11 years as a matter of fact it has about stayed the same and I am a skilled trades worker...there is no way I can afford that price tag.

I like the machine, looks good and think it would rip; but also agree the price tag is a bit much, cant see me spending that kind of coin on a refaced nytro. I think Mr.Viper nailed the weight issue, cant see much weight savings here.
Now saying that, should they throw a blower on the 1050cc and have this thing producing some ponies, I cant justify the price to have one in my gargage, knock down the price to $9K or so then my rubber arm may be twistable.

I have had a bit of time to think about this Yamacat. I am starting to see some benifits.
You could pick up a 800 2 stroke 160+ hp cat in the same chassis as the Viper and put the Yamaha plastic on it, get some custom SRX decals and really throw everyone a curve!!!
Those 800 cats do rip!
Food for thought....

I have never purchased a new sled and probably never will. Give it a couple years and you will be able to pick one up for 4k-5k. It's amazing how much money you can save if you don't need the newest and greatest thing all the time. I hope a lot of Apex guys trade for the new Viper so I can buy a cheap Apex.

Just love all the opinions on here. Before the sled came out everyone was like oh hope its awesome and if it is Im buying one. Now that it looks like a cat and it a $ 10,000 plus sled alot of people are already writing it off. WTF??? The sled looks fantastic and looks like it rides as such. Be interesting to see what the mags all say about it. I know im gonna look into one or the new indy 600 sp. As far as pricing goes. Sure there will be some incentives to get them down a bit. But here is one way to look at it. You buy itand you like it you are gonna keep it for years to come. The way winters are it should damn near last forever. lol. My point is some of you have your original srx, vipers or whatever you own and love them, dont blame you love my old sx. But we have had them for 10-15 yrs and there still going. So in theory so should that new viper with proper maintenance. How much money do you think you have put into your chariots over the years for new shocks ,upgraded suspension and so on so that we can keep up with new sleds. Plus the price of it. Cheaper than a new one suremaybe.l Point being this sport is expensive no matter what you got no matter what you do. But think if you buy a new viper your gonna get your moneys worth for years to come

I was on lake today and there was a new f8 at a bobhouse so I stopped to look at it. Kid that owned it was cool liked the fact yams are going to be the new powerplant. Had his drunk buddy rip it around for me thing was silly. Kid went right over backwards trying to catwalk it. It was a wheelie machine held skis off the lake all the way across. After seeing the chassis and what not in person I'm liking the fact of the yamacats

Yeah I talked to a dude at gas station other day who had the new cat chassis. Said it rode like a dream. However already had clutch trouble with it. So thank goodness the only part of this sled cat is chassis. Definetley a way cool looking buggy
Price
I actually thought the prices were very competitive on the new yamaha line with the exception of the Apex but wouldn't want one of them anyway. Less than a new current Doo or Cat 4 stroke.

Lets break this down, $ 4.00 for a gallon of gas which is 8lbs so .50 cents per lb . Lets say the sled (now its a Cat so this should be way off) weighs 560 lbs so at .50 cents per lb that would be $ 280.00. In all reality we will pay close to $ 200.00 per pound or $ 11,200 ! Looking at that, gas is cheap but boy the price of Japanese aluminum sure is pricy !

only thing i saw that worries me is the exhaust running under the gas tank!!!and the team up was a good idea, chassis is beautiful ,however wheres the innovation?shoulda been a 700 twin genesis with efi and turbo and alot of ponies- idk just something new ,not the same ol same ol ,think outside the box .not just slap the viper logo on a re- styled nytro.use the 1049 in a phazer and slap srx on it!!seems kinda silly~jmo smoke

Actually the exhaust doesn't run under the tank. The tank is at the back under the seat. Having said that all the other 4 stroke Yamaha's have the exhaust run under the tank with no issues.

It would be a disgrace to see the letters SRX on something manufactured by cat. Anybody catch the new episode of Snowtracks yesterday. They tested all the new 800 crossoversleds.......guess where the Procross finnished...3rd out of 3. Reason, ride and handeling, and the least amount of features for the most amount of money. If your gonna team up with somebody, try to do it with the best guys and not the worst.
they will get the chaincase of the cat ........they sucks big big time .....first thing to do is remove the reverse if u doesn't want to broke down ....and just to let u know Yamaha will make 1 new sled every year for the next 5 years ........maybe will see a new srx who knowsssssssssssss
