Anybody know whats involved in changing the front tunnel heat exchanger on a 1998 SRX? Does it come out through the engine compartment or out the bottom? Mine is leaking due to damage from stud flying out?

Thanks

I do not know how much work it would be but by what I have read it is a handfull. Some guys have had luck taking it to an aluminum welder and weld the damaged spot right on the sled.Maybe look into that first..less headaches.

X2 on Blues post. Some guys have ben brave and had success with differant types of epoxy. Welding would be my avenue of choice.
try epoxy or weld it, otherwise wise it requires removal of the skid and the engine :o|

I had that issue on my Vmax 700. Welding shop said they couldn't do it when I described what had to be welded. So I tried a marine type JB weld. Suppose to hold up under pressure and different chemicals, also supposed to set up even on a wet surface. I had the sled on it's side and used a propane torch to heat/dry the surface by the hole. I mixed up this JB weld stuff and jammed it into the hole and around the surrounding area. So far it has held up for 3 years and over 1500 miles, I'm not recommending to fix it this way, just the luck I had with using an epoxy type fix...
