trip meter knob install

I got a couple parts in today one of which was my trip meter knob. Just wondering how ya go about installing these. I tried thread it on but the meter just keeps spinning. Had the dash out and that's about as far as I went cuz I didn't feel like messin something up. Has anyone ever installed one before? You would think it would be as easy as just threading it on....but the part you are supposed to thread it on to just keeps spinning...

Ben a while since I monkied with mine but it seems like it just pushes on/pulls off. If memory serves I had one hell of a time getting that little rubber gromet/o ring seal to ends up in its correct place!

it looks like threads, but i'll have a closer look. sure would be nice for it to just push on.

ya if I push any harder something is gona break....

drill it out just big enough to go over and then epoxy it on..done

worked well, superglued it on. something so simple you think I would've thought of it. I guess we need an outside eye sometimes! Thanks for your help guys!
