Okay so for this summer I want to extend my srx out to 136. I need some advice from someone that has done it. First question is should I extend the factory 121 with viper socks or should I try and find a 136 mono skid or something eqivilent? Question number, what do i need to change in order to put a 1 1/4 lug track in? Question number 3, by doing this i'm I gonna completely kill the top end of the sled? I can stand to loose 4 or 5 mph on the top but I don't want to make it a complete slug. Most of the riding i do is on trail but i do some off trail too. Thanxs for any help guys

I had a viper a few years ago and wanted to do it on that but sold it. I bought this srx last year cheap and know I want to do it on this one. I think it will make it better I just don't want to ruin it.bluemonster1 said:pm sideshowbob,he long tracked his and can give you the info you need.I would like to try this as well maybe one day.

1. How much money do you want to spend? 136 mono would ride nice, but prolly gonna spend more. But it's really up to you.
2. Nothing.
3. You will lose some top end no doubt, spinning a longer track. But if you mostly trail ride, you will barely notice.

The first question you need to answer is how much you want to spend. You can get extensions for your 121 and a 136 track for bottom end price range. 136 M-10, 136 track, set of lower gears to turn more track is higher end budget. I have an 01 SRX I have ben wanting to go 144" with reverse kit.

Ya I know it all depends on how much I want to spend. The biggest thing will be locating what I want to piece it together I guess. I'm more or less looking to build something a little different and outside the box I guess. I'd much sooner put a couple grand into my srx then spend the money to buy a new sled, not to mention it will be custom and I hate having something that looks like what everyone else has.
I did my 98 srx this season and I used a 144" from a 2004 summit with a 2" paddles had to change the track drivers to 8 tooth and added a tunnel extension from a viper mountain, I made drop brackets for the rear, but let me tell you the amount of top end I lost doesn't compare to plus's that I gained everywhere else, it rides so much smoother and takes off like a rocket, my buddy has a mountain viper and it doesn't compare to the srx at all, only downfall right now is I haven't done anything to the front yet so in the deep snow it all comes back in your face

save your self a ton of time and just buy my srx thats stretched to 136 with a 1.5 paddle. also comes with a 780 motor and a viper long travel front suspention to match.
to answere your questions though i used a 136 rear skid 1.5 136 skid and a viper complete front end , rides very nice has all kinds of power lost a little on the top end but the 780 took care of that, if you have any questions feel free to pm me, can also send ya pics of mine

When I did mine I used a 144x2 and a Polaris/holz coilover. 780 motor. Worked awesome. Some days I wish I was still one it, but the turbo apex is growing on me

In my opinion, i would go 144 and i say this for cosmetic reasons only. I find the 136 with a mountain viper tunnel or mountain max tunnel looks a little funny. The build is not as easy as i thought. I used a 144 viper mountain skid thinking that it would be a breeze to install, and look factory, since the chassis are pretty much the same but your drilling holes either way. If i could do it again i would use anything but proaction. As for gearing i dropped 1 tooth on the top and it dropped my top speed to around 105.

I also have a viper stretched out to 144 with a two inch paddle and tripe pipes and a few other mods
Both sleds run very well and both are fast and handle well. Each has its own area where is is superior and each has a down side kinda. As stated above it all depends on what type of riding you do most of the time. If interested pm me any questions I'll be more than happy to share my experiences of each.

I've had 2 srx 136" and 2 srx 144", I have a 98 now I put a sc3-10 in it and streched it to 136'' 1.5 paddle with reverse. The sled launches nice and runs fast, I flipped the front shock brackets to gain a inch in the front, I might have lost a couple mph on top but how offen you run flat out for a long time. The 2 144" and 1 136" were the pro-action skids streched with 7 tooth drivers 1 3/4 lug, drop brackets and tunnel extentions. Well worth the investment in my opion.
