Went for a ride last night with my cousin, he has been a poo die hard forever. He bought a Rush the end of last winter with the walker evans shock package. Ive been dieing to ride it and last night finally got my chance. WOW what a machine. Could not believe how smooth running and smooth riding. Was like riding a quad, just real comfortable. The engine was sewing machine smooth. He claimed he liked riding my old sx but think he was just being nice lol. So I dont know I might jump ship next year and look into the new indy. really like that machine. Ive done a crap load of improvements to my old girl such as raising seat , vector skid, viper shocks with doo springs and its much better but nothing like that poo. Like a buddy of mine said who has a new skidoo. You can shine that old turd all you want but it still is a old turd.lol. Course my old turd was alot cheaper. We will see what the reviews are on the viper I really like that hotrod too.

the 2012 800s are having piston issues. I would look elsewhere. my brother has a 800 pro r and it absolutely rips. spanks my old triple everytime. [not real bad though] your cousin may want out look at the top of his pistons, they break right off above the top ring land at about 1500 miles. not to mention the fuel filter [$150.00] goes at about 1500 miles, belt too, another $150.00. as a yami rider that shits unacceptable to me. I would ride that thing right through Polaris' front window and tell em to stick it. the worst part is that under warranty they put the exact same stuff right back in there. so come on back at 3000 miles, then 4500! my redhead flipped 6000 this weekend and the engine has never been apart, and I beat that thing. still runs strong! I would stick with something blue if I were you.

well I was just waiting to hear about these e-tec's and see how they do after some miles were put on.Not to impressive.I guess BRP like's to bolst about there new sleds, and all the option's they make for them and how they tell the consumers it is their best .Even with the best skids, and lighter frames and the R and T motion..blah blah blah..I fact remains..they just can't make a reliable power plant or keep belts from blowing. Now that sure is crap for a big company ..they should be embarrassed to say the least.Wow and their riders just keep going back to the new ones hoping maybe they will get lucky..what a bunch of FOOLS I would say...Don't know why Yamaha would not of jumped to the gun on all this.Cats have issues,Doo has issues..Yamaha should of come out with something totally new on their own and blown away the competition..drop their prices more..give great warranties..and I am sure they would be a #1 supplier of sleds to the mass's.

Why do so many of these guys hate Yamaha...they must have blinders on.If you look at any of the craiglists,Kijiji's..you will see an endless supply of used Cats and Doos out there and newer stuff. You would think that would be a red flag for potential future sled buyers. Some people just won't learn and just keep throwing their $$$ into a losing battle. If Doo is doing records sale on their clothing line and such..maybe stay at that and eliminate the sled part..can't help but to laugh at these guys..can't ever make a sled that will go more then 1500 to 3000 miles without a huge rebuild.Man people are paying $13,000 to $15,000 for these new crappers..WHY I ask WHY!!

Just meant the sitting position was the same. Well thats good info to have about the pistons and such. I will have to tell him. I know he was concerned about the oil consumption. He has put a few hundred mile on it and I bet he has gone threw maybe a half quart. My buddy with the etec 800 the same deal. He was bragging how a tank of oil last him just about all season. So be interesting to see how they hold up over time. I have heard about the skidoos blowing up early. Will see on his poo.

RIGHT ON BLUE!!!

I don't get it either. How much more obvious could it be to these people. Yet they still buy that crap, and bash, and bash, and bash our blue wonders.
In the classifieds I usually see easily 40% Cat and 40% Ski Doo. Polaris maybe 15% and Yamaha and everyone else are the remainder.
I have put on close to 500 miles in the last couple weeks, and do you know how many blue machines I've seen? Not counting mine and my buddies? EXACTLY one, and ONE old Phazer. NEVER a 4 stroke.
EVERY we've ever stopped someplace there were sleds. We were the only Yamahas. Out of let's say 10 sleds there will be 6 Ski Doos, 3 Cats, and one Polaris. All newer hardware too. One place we stopped there must have been 30-40 sleds, and we STILL were the ONLY Yamahas.
Blows my mind.....

Must be a your neck of the woods kind of thing.I joined the Jordan Valley Trails Council grooming team this year and have ben out grooming 7 times now. Of those 7 trips I always see a TON of Yammies out there (2 and 4 strokers) Of the 7 trips I have only to have 1 that I didnt see at least 1 SRX....I guess they are more popular than I once thought. The only sled I have seen non-yammie that has sparked any of my interest is the Pro-R....The price tag then turns me around. Would rather OWN a fleet of Yammies than make a payment plan on something else.

Why you ask why blue i fill you in,at least the way i see it.Its the younger generation as well as some 30 and 40 year olds that would rather buy these sleds and look like they are bad to the core and ride like the wind than go with a reliable some what heavy sled that is often scoffed at in the snowcross circle.

This is a wolf wear/ monster enery drink crowd that run with goggles and sled wraps and would rather have these stickers on there trailor no matter how bad the sled is.

I ride with these kind of guys all the time they are going to trade there sled in every 2 years to have the next new turd so they for the most part dont care about longitivity.
This is one of them notice the apebars click on pic for a better view.

well then let them live and learn and their pocket books will be burning a hole thru them pretty damn quick.Hey if they have the $$$..let them throw it at some hot lookin Cat or Doo if it keeps them happy for a while.Us guys who own these 10 to 15 year old Yami's already know the truth..and our sleds have proved it..If one of us bought lets say a brand new SRX in 01 or 02 for around $8000,and still ride them..cost per year for owning the sleds becomes nothing. But if you keep trading in every year or two..the money is flying to the dealership and keeps them happy..they don't want people to hang on to their sleds for long, they need to get them to purchase every couple of years because they will look cool and they will be on new iron and thats all that counts. Will they tell you how many times they broke down or brought sleds back to the service department..no of course not.

I run into some guys i used to ride with once in a while even in the summer they always ask what kind of sled do i ride now.Well the look on there faces when i say the srx and than i say i still have my 2 1990 sleds i bought new as well they walk away shaking there heads.I think its really cool i still have my {too rad for mom or dad} exciter that i used to blow them away with on trail and the ice.lol''

Now this is why we are not on top of sales.Too dam cheap.I am happy i have the classic trail permit that saves me some money when i buy from now on.

Well, Polaris did have some issues on 08-09 800's but the ones since then have been really good.
Also the 800 polaris is known to be great on oil, as good as the etecs are.

I still have yet to ride a rush, our the new Indy chassis, but judging from all the great test rider/ demo comments, I think Polaris has it figured out. Take a look and see the pricing compared to the other 3 brands. The Polaris are much less money for all the same if not better features. That Indy 800 sp is 10,700. They sold a ton of Indy 600's this year, they will sell a ton of those in 2013 and 800 Indy's will fly out of the showrooms.

I have been racing a 2013 800 Switchback Assault 144 1.75 track and this thing flat out beats everyone weve raced against this winter, we have been winning 800 and 1000 stock all winter

And that's an 800 that puts out the least amount of HP , but just happens to make up for the lower hp with great clutching and low weight. That off trail 1.75 track isn't helping with speed though.

Imagine if Polaris added 15 or so hp to make their 800 on par with cat and doo, to that already fast chassis? I'm just going they improve the current 2 strokes to di, and hopefully make a new 4 stroke series. Mercury marine is supposedly working with Polaris on engine tech, di has to be one of them, and maybe 4 stroke motors too. The Weber 4 stroke was great, especially in turbo form, but it cost Polaris too much, and that motor apparently won't work in the rush/ pro ride/Indy chassis.

What I thought to just a nice all around sled. My cuz's rush is a 600 however. But still plenty of a$$ behind it. I dont know Ive always been really loyal to yamaha. But find myself buying more toys not yami. Have a Victory 8 ball which is freakin awesome and a poo ranger which is equally awesome. Yami always seems behind when it comes to improvements and such. Leave there stuff the same forever. This new viper I like but see how the wallet looks in fall. Knowing my cheap a$$ I will just say screw it and keep riding old iron. All I know is I could keep up but was working way harder at it then my cousin on his rush. You really have to look where you live to. What I mean by that is some guys say they have no trouble keeping up with new machines. Well is that on groomed trail or bumpy??? Im sure groomed. I dont have trouble either when its groomed. But when its starts getting rough is when you see difference. And yes I already updated the skids. Like I said love my old sx, with all the improvements and purchase price I probably have 2200 -2500. So not to shabby, but that new stuff is tempting to.
