no not sure..just guessing..but how can it be rich.If you block the exhaust,it will be rich right.if you take the pipes off and run open headers..it should be leaner right..I don,t know

at what point do you guys replace your donuts? Mine look pretty beat up but dont appear to have any leaks....yet.
Any suggestions on decent quality aftermarket ones? the OEM's are around $25ea here!

once the donuts start to wear down, get thin..change them.I just put new ones in a few weeks back.Make sure your springs are tight and adjust the other end of the pipes so they will go in the the exhaust can further and keeping the pipe to header snug.
I know someone else asked about leaking donuts if they would lean a or richen.I said lean,si I was correct in saying so.

It will likely run lean but actually use more fuel because it wastes it. Generally a leaky donut, unless completely gone or if you are already on the edge, will not be enough to burn it down. A hole in the exhaust, now that can be a different story.
There are threads about alternate replacements. Obviously Yamaha does not make these, so finding a match is possible I just can't remember any numbers.

I think modsrx found something to replace the OEM ones,he had to file them a bit to get to slide on the headers..but don't know if they are working for him 100%.Go OEM is the best.If the pipes are tight fitting and secured good with the springs, should last you 2 to 3 seasons..which is not to bad.I pu mine along with other things from the US for about $17.00 plus tax's and delivery..so yeah they are a few dollars...what isn't these days..
Buy the OEM i found one that fit on my viper from a car and it only lasted 2 years compared to the 5 for the stock. Once it wore down the y pipe was hitting inside the expansion pipe and started to wear into the flange there. I have had to fix many students older polaris pipes due to this pipe wear as it ended up cutting into the flange so bad that it cracked off. Couple hundred dollar pipe vs $20 oem gasket?

Royal distributing carries them, $14.99 for the headers and 26.99 for the can little bit cheaper then oem... Made by kimpex, I had mine come today, hopefully have them installed next week.

let us know how long they last,I bet not as long as OEM.Got to watch the stuff they sell for Yamaha.Hood straps are crap,2ndary buttons are cheap, bushings are also cheap. OEM is the best to use I have learned.
