Hi All looking for some help with my SX500R, bought the sled in non running condition and dont have much hisory on it. After cleaning the carbs it starts and runs with no issue but there is a very strange constantant beeping sound. The beeping sound is coming from the engine or dash area, sounds like some type of warning sound.
Any Ideas?

does it have reverse?

If it has reverse then the reverse switch is hung up. You will see 2 wires going to a switch near the shift leaver. Disconnect one of them and get a new switch. The beeper is behind the panel beside your hand warmer controls.

It looks like it has reverse, there is a reverse shift knob, the linkage looks disconnected for some reason, so can i just disable the switch or remove it?

Have you driven the sled?
If the linkage is diconnected it may be in reverse, hence the backup beeper sounding.
It has reverse on it so hook it up...if it doesn't work fix it as it is a real asset to have when riding.

Exactly. Cat pro cross sled owners will be the first to tell you how nice a functioning reverse is. Its even worse when you pay 12 k + for something with reverse and it does not work.
You can simply disconnect the beeper though.

yes i have driven it, obviously i have not tried reverse because it is disconnected, I have not gone far because i thought the beeping indicated someting serious like overheating or something, the beep starts as soon as the sled is started and idles
Thanks so much for your reply, i have a manual and have found nothing in it regarding the noise !

FYI, your model did not come with reverse from the factory, so it was installed by a dealer or previous owner. Is your manual the Owners manual or Service manual? It's good to have both if you are planning to work on and maintain the sled. The service manual download is available here if you become a VIP member, check out the VIP section. The owners manuals are available to download from Yamaha's website if you wanted an electronic copy. If your manual doesn't include the Vmax Deluxe or Venture sleds, then you can download the corresponding manual to use as a reference, I imagine the backup alarm would at least be shown in the wiring section.

Its just the reverse beeper. EIther unhook the pink and brown wire at the reverse lever or push down on the reverse lever knob and push forward. Will put the lever in forward position and beeping will stop. There are no noise making warning indicators on these sleds.
