slide rail suspension question

I don't know the technical name of them, but the caps on the front of the rail that the sliders but up agenst are wearing down at a surprizing rate. What could be causing this? I do know there is a large upper gap on my transfer rods if that's a factor.
 

Sounds like your limiter straps are to far out letting the rail ends rub on the track clips. They will rub a little but sounds like yours a a lot. How much bolt in mm is sticking out from where the limiter strap bolts. From bracket to end of bolt not nut to end of bolt.?
 
if they are loose, remove them and pump them full of silicone and reinstall them or they will fall off.
are you running 8tooth drivers, they cause more of the tip to be exposed to the track.

also, if you run lots of transfer

also, running in the off trail style of riding will let you skid run out and make the track bend in there and touch the tip.

also, there are a few different bends yamaha has put on the front rail over the years, some lay very flat, some have an extra curl at the tip.
 
Ill look latter, sleds at the cottage. And Wait put silicon in what? What's the down side to short limiters?

The tips your talking about is where the silicone goes. Long limiters lets more weight tranfer/skid drop out in front faster. This is why guys that want to lift skis upon punching the throttle run them looser. Loose straps/disco'ed straps will lead to front shock breakage eventually. Shorter straps less ski lift while on throttle as well as in corners.
