looking towards triple pipes. what ya guys got for sale? 2001 sx700r. what other mods have to be done to run triple pipes on a redhead 700? how's the fuel mileage? don't really want to modify my sled, but its getting harder to run down some of these new sleds!

we have slp pipes on the 98 xtc 700..sure gives it extra power and more fun factor, but the fuel mileage will go down some.Have to changes jetting, change needle position,re clutch..different weights ..etc.But the motor pulls like a beast.

Mike, With triple pipe you will have to sacrifice fuel economy for performance. My Sled went from 12-13 mpg to about 9 mpg at best with my thumb in throttle, if I ride my sled carfully I can get back to near stock fuel economy. The mods that will need to be done will be clutching and jetting the carburetors right off the bat to help with the new found power. The rest of the mods are up to you.
The top performing triple pipes would be: Simons-CPR(Hauck), Power Inc. - end dump pipes, Bender Racing triples.

I run Simons-CPR(Hauck) on my 98 700sx, same motor you have. I used to get about 14-16mph, but with pipes it is less. I was guessing about 10-12 mpg. But this weekend after putting 415 miles keeping up with 5 other guys that ride new sleds (1100 turbo, 2-800 etecs, a 1200 rotex 4-stroke, and a 600 sdi) riding fast and hard!! I calculated my mileage at 11.9 mpg!! Not bad for pipes. But most people I talk too say they get about 8-9 mpg.

I run Bender tripples on both our ported SXs. These pipes have been absolutely flawless in performance, fit and durablility. We drag raced these sleds with the pipes and then long tracked them to 144" and have 1000s of miles and many years on these pipes.
The Benders run approx 8600 but have a pretty flat power curve and are pretty forgiving when it comes to shift RPM. I have them jetted pretty safe and we typically get a little better then 100 miles per tank of fuel.

I'm running a 97 with PI center dumps....love them.....no they don't make the power of other pipes but they are very quiet, run at 8100, and run 147.5 jetting. Great trail pipe hardly any louder than stock. More bottom end than a stock 700. Running 89l weights, 21 tooth on top and have no problem hitting 180kph on the speedo. Runs better than a 98 srx, had one.

I run aaens nice and quite with good kick stock engine jetting was 147.5 and got around 8mpg riding hard. Don't know what it gets riding conservatively I don't know how to stay out of the throttle lol.

you guys are awesome! this is just what I was after.@chris700redhead, check out sleddeinar and sideshowbobs posts. they are getting like 11-12 mpg. At 8mpg. I would have to find new riding partners, when we fill up now mine ALWAYS takes more than my buddies newer 800 and 1000's. I CAN run right with them though. Funny thing, my 500 twin uses more gas than all of them, stock! thanks again guys, I got a summer to collect parts! maybe I can supprise the Polaris next winter. that would be sweet.

@chris700redhead. how do you like that energy track? I run the same one with 196? studs and I spin pretty good on take off. i think if i could hook it up, it wouldn't need pipes to chase people down. what ya think? ripsaw 2 sounds pretty good

With Turks help (god rest his soul) my set up is a 2000 sxr 700 bender pipes advantage roller v force reeds and spacers primary 8ch weights out of a 98 sx 700 stk rivet location green silver green spring 15 mm rollers engagment 4200 shift out 8700 secondary 47/41 helix green spring 70 deg wrap im going to try mabye dropping a tooth and 60 deg wrap with this set up it pulls hard right up to 100 mph

I was using stock clutching last year with the pipes was only turning 8750 rpms a stock redhead with aaen pipes is supposed to turn 9200. Even under revving for the pipes I could tear up rev 800's like they were standing still. The only guy that beat me was a 06 crossfire 700 138inche track he'd get me out the hole and that was it. I like the track it works very well this was my third season on it I'm 260 suited up with all my gear so I didn't have a problem with traction until I had it ported. As far as the fuel economy goes I don't really care if I wanted good mpg's I would have left the stock pipe on. I like having the fastest sled in the group. If you wanna play your gonna pay.
