So I posted earlier in the year and took advise and tried a few things to resolve my problem with no luck. It's an 05 mtn viper with slp pipes.
Problem is the sled cuts out/ bogs at 7500-8000 and will not clear up.
It sounds exactly like I'm hitting a rev limiter with a bog.
Lowered the needle from 3 to 2.5, bypassed tors nothing helped.
Carbs are clean, plugs look good,
If I just blip blip the throttle 3/4 or less while climbing its fine, but when pinning it i get the cut cut cut cut bog cut bog itil i let off. runs fine until I'm 3/4 throttle or more.
Powervalves? Reeds?
Any suggestions appreciated, it's really frustrating me.
Thanks-

try to to get it to do the bog, run it doing that for a stretch. Then stop and pull the sparkplugs see if they still look good or if you can isolate a certain cylinder as the culprit.

Thanks MrViper. I did just that and pulled plugs. All looked similar brown, couldn't narrow it down. Thinking of looking at plug caps wires n coils also
Frustrating I tell ya.

Maybe at WOT the engine torques a bit more and is tugging on a rubbed through harness.

Maybe a wiggle test if the usual locations haven't been addressed?

Maybe toggle the choke when it occurs to narrow down a possible fuel delivery issue.

Good luck.

Ive been searching on here for hours looking at related issues to mine.
Lots of things i got to check. I do not run headlights, and tach and everything works so im not sure bout stator being bad, but will check it along with rub through.
If one of the plug boots, wires, or coil was bad, would it still run fine up to a certain rpm and cut out because of not enough spark to keep up with fuel demand? Or would it run rough lower rpm too?

Say it was a powervalve issue, one plug would be black correct?

Thanks for the help everyone,

Just a suggestion - Make a list of everything you have checked and post it in your first thread. Add things as people respond and give your findings as you check it out. Keep the list organized as it will help readers think through it.

The 4 things I suspect . . .

Stator
Motor Mounts
Wire harness rub through
Exhaust restriction

Had same problem on '01 700. Checked friggin' everything...TWICE! Messed with clutching, replaced and calibrated TPS which I thought for a mile or three had fixed it, then realized it was worse at higher temps and I dug into the carbs one more time.

Ended up being the float levels were off a touch and too much gas was getting in the bowls. Once that was fixed it snapped back to life and leaves f7s behind!

is the dcs light coming on when it does it? I've got a 04 piped mt Viper in my garage right now that i've chased a DCS issue on all year. ready to go back to the stock pipe.
