Hi, the engine runs fine for 5-10 minutes until it's really warmed up. Then it starts cutting out around 7-8000 rpm and it's like struggling to keep the sparks coming. It behaves exactly like there would be something wrong with the spark plugs, but I've changed the plugs and caps. The problem seems to be worse when the weather gets warmer.

I was thinking it could be something with the cdi-box/sparkplugwires/cable wires??? But I find it really strange that the temperature seems to influence this problem.
Any idea what this might be?

are the carb heaters turned on? in warmer temps you need to turn them off. could also be a wire rubthrough or break under the motor.

Yes they're turned on. Well, actually there's a small hole in the rubber wire cover right between the variator and the exhaust but seems unlikely to cause any trouble? Guess I'll have to take it to the local workshop.

Sounds similar to the problem I'm having.
Good luck. When ya figure it out, post up what it was.

sounds like a stator that's bad or a wire rub thru somewhere in the harness. my problem was the stator. went thru 2 of them this year :o|

That's probably the case. I've checked the coils and they seemed okay. Seems like a relatively common problem with the stators or harnesses, how much does a stator cost OEM?

okay, so it was the stator... I've changed it now and all the problems are gone! I had to pay 400€ for the stator which seems pretty expensive...
