this is for my friends mm. its a 700 and every once in a while it will sputter. the sputtering sounds like it is hitting a rev limiter but the rpm are not high enough to move the sled. so he kills it, restarts it and then its fine for a little while. he changed the plugs and set the vari-flow on rich. this seemed to help until he rolled it. after he rolled it it started doing the same thing. the sled has been tampered with. it has bender pipe (im guessing the last owner jetted it right) has one of the shims taken out of the head. and has some clutch kit in it, not sure what kind. any idea's on what it might be and how to fix it will help. thanks in advance.

Sounds like the T.O.R.S., the thorottle cable is adjusted to tight. Loosen up the cable adjustment and try it again.

it does sound like TORS. Disconnect the wires at the carb and plug the 2 wires together that go ot the wiring harness and try it again.
If it is ok your throttle cable is not adjusted or the TORS switch itself is bad.
You can check the switch with an OHM meter.
