ive been talking to mrviper700 about doing a trail port job on my 01 srx 700. problem in northern maine is that there is only 91 octane readily available and thats usually been sitting around in tanks for months. does anyone run a trail ported srx that has input on how their sleds work with various gas? will i notice a difference only running 91? is it worth the 600 dollars?
Don't port it if you are going to run crappy gas, easy as that.
Ask Don he will tell u best being the one doing the work. Had a sx 700 done by him and wow wont she pull now.

If I may ask, how much did a trail port run you? I'm interested in getting mine done.
Thanks

I had the center piston get over heated so i had to rebuild it. i figured as long as it is coming apart, I might as well get an upgrade. I think it was $950 all said and done. You cant get just a rebuild for that from most guys. With my HC clutch kit and the trail port, its a different sled.

I run 91 octane in my 780 ported Srx. I cut the heads for 89 and run 91 to be safe with today's fuel. Just because 91 is the highest available in your area, doesn't make it not worth getting the sled ported.

I've got a MrViper top end in my Viper and I've run it 2 years now with Maine's 91 and klotz octane boost. still running strong.

I ran 780 for years that he spec'd for premium with fresh 91 and 8oz of torco per 5 gallons of fuel. Worked like a champ.

A good porting job package that includes head mods and is matched to your riding style whether it be trail or racing ect and also matched to the octane level of the fuel you are using will always be an improvement over what the factory generic porting and head cuts are.
Mrviper's credentials speak for themselves. Just make sure you specify accurately what your specific application is...you will not be dissapointed.
We are actually fortunate to have an individual that does engine porting ect that is still so tuned into our, more then noncurrent[read obsolete!], SRXs and Vipers!
