Would like to something about rebuilding a 600 tripple redhead, doesYamaha sell complete rebuild kits-first oversize pistons/pins and bearings,seals/gasket kit.Versuses jobber parts as a qaulity concern. My sled has 13,000 kms. on her and not a leak orproblem anywhere, now that tells me something about what Yamaha put togethar in '99. It seems when guys go jobber they usually run into soom problems with something down the line.Any opinions?

my crank was good..bearings all fine, just did the seals, water pump seals, new base and head gaskets, pistons, rings, etc.Been 3rd season..still runs great, usually starts 1 to 2 pulls if not sitting for weeks.Got all my parts from cyclepartsnation.com .I am almost at 17,000 km's now and can't complain.Them 600's are tough motors.

funny to hear that all the newer sleds are bowing up//makes me laugh at all these guys think they have the latest newest best sled around..and then it ends up in the shop 75% of the time..If only they would of ridden an older Yami, they would still be riding..some just never learn and throwing their money away..
Sring melt really not here yet, will hit all at once along with water from Grand Forks..getting my boat and motor ready soon..will take pics of this Flood again.

Yamaha does not sell an engine overhaul kit per say just the individual parts and pieces. That being said there's a couple of site sponsors that can get you oem parts and you could no doubt work with them to get everything you need from one spot.KAPUSTA said:Would like to something about rebuilding a 600 tripple redhead, doesYamaha sell complete rebuild kits-first oversize pistons/pins and bearings,seals/gasket kit.Versuses jobber parts as a qaulity concern. My sled has 13,000 kms. on her and not a leak orproblem anywhere, now that tells me something about what Yamaha put togethar in '99. yeah funny how BRAND NEW sleds are goin in for warrenty work for parts that are backordered 8 mounths out. thats enough to keep me off the showroom floor. especialy when the ole redhead keeps running so good. keep geniune yamaha parts in it and keep her running like a true yamaha. i think thats half the problem with the new sleds, to much outsourcing fron china. dont know for sure, but thats what i would guess. my sled holds up so weel that i might just buy my first asian truck. maybe a toyota or nissan. american products dont impress me to much anymore, sad but true.KAPUSTA said:Good to hear, time will tell they are good engines, everyone around me is blowin there NEW sleds up,can't figure this one out,and the Yammis keep on ticking...take care have a good spring and oh yes put your high tops yeahon for the water thats coming!!!!

Really though. Remember when chevy was the truck to have? Over the past couple years I think there really only selling on that reputation but owning a chev myself I can say that their nothing to brag about. Im really interested to see what ford is doing for 2014 with the all new design and use of aluminum.... Forgot that the main subject was on sleds so... Its true that engine wise older sleds are much more reliable but that is because todays emission laws are very hard to please without going 4-stroke. Saying that the handling of a modern sled does help make up for it!

yeah, i been a chevy man since i was a chevy boy. its hard to swallow that if i lean on my truck the whole boxside may dent right in. one thing though is that their engines seem pretty good. funny that they can do the emisions crap and make it work. whats up with the sled manufactures? rushin crap out the door to beat the other guy to the market, then take them right back into the service dept. to fix them.(if they can get parts for it)devinzz1 said:Really though. The automotive OEMs have a 30 year head start dealing with the EPA.
To meet the stringent CAFE standards, you'll be seeing a lot more dentable body panels.
