depends on the year, 95, 96 short track were the lightest, followed by the long track version. 97 was heavier with the pro-action suspension and hydraulic brake. 97 mountain max was the heaviest of them all.
When you get on it and pull the trigger you wont care how heavy it is

Any idea what the dry weight is? What would most improved stock and pro stock v-max4's weigh?

IMO There is no other sled that looks as good and sounds as good as the VMAX4

Bob are these pics of the 866? I have ordered a hood already and have numerous plans for this new build. Wish I could post everything but I would rather curious eyes not see what I am doing. (local competitors in my class)
Very nice sled by the way!

Yes thats my 866 the way I raced it.
-lite weight hood
-gutted headlight pod
-Wahl suspension
-1.6 track
-750 drives shaft[1+ lb lighter]
-750 gears and chain...lighter again
-extroverts
-light weight seat
-shortened stock skiis
-Bender strut lowering kit
-tunnel side mount heat exchangers for track clearance
-866 cc wiseco pistons
-TMX 38s
-welded cranks still at 90 degree
-high RPM CDI[don't know if I really needed this on the 800???]
-Hauck Howler High RPM race pipes...10200 rpm
This sled was undefeated in the years I used it in Snow drags...it ran 109 mph in 660 on snow and with the 660 gearing ran 127 mph[and still pulling] in 1000'...again on snow. The sled was also completely bullit proof with 100ll blended premium fuel...but it would break front limiter straps which made for amazing track stands at 100+ mph. I cured that problem by installing stainless steel cable for limiter straps.

Sounds like one hell of a sled! I've been tossing around the idea of running my next project at 90 degrees. I'm thinking it would be better for radar running. Would like input from anyone that has run a max at high rpm's in both 180 and 90 degree phasing.
What compression ratio and port timing did this motor have? Where the transfer runners opened up? Cases ported?

- compression ratio at 14.75 :1
- squish .057"
- exhaust port duration 190'
- transfers were modded
- exhaust port 28mm from top of cylinder
- boost ports into tranfers in the cylinders behind reed cage
- stock cases

That sled pulls really hard running 127 on snow in 1000. Obviously the 90 degree crank phasing works well! I will likely try it on my build. I love the sound of a v-max 4 on quads. Crank the rpm's up to 10 or 11k and it must sound extremely violent.
Thx for the info!
