I have an orange skid plate that has been sitting around and would like to put a white skid plate on my srx but Im starting to believe they are almost impossible to find. So I was maybe thinking of painting my skid plate maybe white or black, has anybody done this and what works best?

It's tricky to get paint to stay on something like that but it can be done. I'd check out you tube, there are alot of good vids on there about painting plastic. I found this one on you tube for preping the plastic before paint, "How To Prep Polypropylene Plastic for Paint".

Krylon makes a plastic paint that does stick pretty good but I would imagine with being on the bottom of the bellypan you'll likely bve touching it up frequently. But like shaggy says prep is everything especially when it comes to plastic.

alright Im already a you tube nut so I will have to check that out. Ya I figured it might be a little tricky but knowing that its unlikely I'll find a nice white skid plate, I think Im gonna have to look into the prep work that's needed and that krylon paint. heck I got a little more than 7 weeks left till winter so I got plenty of time.

I use bullydog adhesion promoter, my whole bellypan is painted white, and the paint sticks great. can be bought at any parts store.

If you can get a flex additive you will be in good shape. A 3m rep came to school once with a stress ball they used it on and you could squeeze it without paint ripping off. It is also part of prep on plastic bumper covers on cars. Good luck.

jaws I remember seeing pics of your sled looks sweet with the blue and white! Im gonna have to go to the local napa and see if I can find some of this.

I'm on year three with my handguards that i painted this way. Only place thats missing paint is where i hit a mailbox with. The bullydog is a plastic adhesion promoter, like jthemmer suggested.

I just saw a guy on Powerblock TV last weekend using some kind of 3 step kit for prepping a plastic bumper for painting. I will try and find the name.

nice I think I remember seeing part of that episode, I got some adhesion promoter and hoping to maybe give it a shot this weekend but we shall see.

How did you make out? I have to paint a Blue one to black. I bought some Rustoleum plastic paint but haven't done it yet.
