Okay so basically what I am looking for is a gear set that will give me crazy acceleration.. don't care so much for top end. if I can hit like 75mph that's plenty enough for me. how big of a sprocket can I fit on the bottom and how much can I drop on the top? right now I have a 1.5in challenger track (121). was thinking with some pipes and extrovert drivers and a pretty aggressive clutch setup I could probably pull the skis pretty easily. Its on a 2000 700 vmax.
20 40 gears will be more than enough Id think

If all you want to do is lift the skis take out your transfer rods. There has been a lot said around here about ski lift vs acceleration. Ski lift may be great on a mountain sled, but a properly set up straight line machine you wouldn't even want to get the skis light. Lots of comparisons have been made. If you want to go fast and pull hard, keep the skis on the snow and tune the skid/gears/clutch to get all the power to the ground

ALL WRONG. YOUR TITLE HERE SHOULD BE '' CLUTCHING. MAX ACCEL ''. clutching comes before gearing. pulling the skis for a good show went out in 1976. a guy with a good skid/ clutch setup will dust you. 3:16 (yammie tony)

You have to be able to get traction to use the track acceleration you create. I agree, you have to clutch first but then tune for your final gearing selection.
