Hello All, i just bought a 03 Viper, red in color, and was wondering, how could i see if it has electric start standard? besides looking at the battery, and whee would i find it on this model? I just took a quick look and couldnt see it, this sled had no reverse but the previous owner had it added on, and i believe it is a 121 X 15 inch track, when i bought her he gave me the old chain case parts, 3 bottles of oil a cover ad 3 dollies and new slides, I was not expecting it.

If you know how i could tell, I could nto see any wires for it tho, if you know if they are standard or optional, please let me know, it would be a great help

02 and 03 vipers that are red in color came with electric start and reverse. One way you can tell if it has electric start is by looking at the primary to see if there is a ring gear on to for the starter. The starter is right under the primary too. If the owner had to add reverse to it then i believe it was not a red sled for the factory. If it was red for the factory it should have reverse and electric start standard on it. I believe it was blue and someone switched the hood and seat. I looked at an 02 viper last year that was red and it was a good price and then looked under the hood to find no reverse or electric start. Guy liked the red color and had the red hood and seat put on.

Ok ill look at the Primary, i checked for a battery box, there was none, it would be behind the exhaust can eh? if not there where could it be? theres nothing in the nose i dont think its able to use electric start, but could i perhaps add it on?

Yah no eletric start, not a big thing, and i cannot add it on seeing the crank was not made for it, and the sled was originally red, the ownership says red so it must be a stock red, but i think in Canada its different, the black, and blues here also the newest mountains had the turn key

You can add it on, the crank has nothing to do with it. You need battery/wires/keyswitch/ring for primary. The 04 Viper S I recently bought came with the receipt for a "E start kit" from yamaha dealer $424 brand new. Not sure what came in this kit as it was already on sled when I bought it. Sure is SWEET turning a key versus pullin that rope!

Ok thanks guys that sounds perfect :), and yah i hate pulling the things over in minus 60 degrees C
