I have a 04 viper mountain with a stock 144 track. The track is adjusted tight but some times i hear and feel a ratchiting sound when a good hook up and gas is applied. What should i look for to repair this.

Is your drive lugs chipping down? I have a new track (151") this year with 800 miles on it now and i run it pretty loose and it hasnt skipped a bit. Its a camoplast.

drive lugs on the inside of track broken, missing, or worn or the drivers on the driveshaft themselves worn down?
from there you may want to inspect the chain and gears along with the chain tension. perhaps a bearing issue as well.

Also make sure your skid doesn't have any broken parts. Ratcheting can be a sign of a broken arm.
