well got to work on them tonight, got some thicker metal plate for the bottoms and made them a little wider and long enough to bypass original holes for mounting.Put a 1/4" bolt thru the tops and welded the heads to the plate, cut the threads to 1".Redrilled the 2 holes for the bolts to poke thru. Will use silicone when I shove the ends thru the holes. Now they are stronger then stock and I will be able to run studs on the SRX again. Now I have to install all 144 studs again... :o|

well got the protectors on and they fit great .These will never come loose again. Thanks to betheviper's tip on using a bolt for the top and using silicone on the bolts into the holes. Also thanks to my twin(bluewho)lol..for suggesting welding on bigger plates and drill new holes for the rivets..it worked great also. That is what this site is all about.. ;)! ;)!
Now I am going to install my studs back on the track now..,will be putting the SRX skid back to stock form and keep this sled completely stock and as a Lake racer, not a ditchbanger.Got my 144 SXR for that now.SRX will only be ridden on ideal weather and snow conditions. The long tracked SXR will be my daily rider I think and SRX comes out on Sundays only.Long live Yamaha for the great 2 strokes that they make and in triple form.. ;)! ;)!

blue glad you got that taken care of they look nice. unfortunately Im kinda in the same boat, in feb one exchanger got knocked loose from my track and during my last ride of the year I ended up taking my other one off as well cause it was loose. So Im hoping that its not too much of a pain to put new exchangers in. :o|

yep..they turned out good and bottoms are a little thicker as well.Ended up putting like 5 rivets per bottom plate as well.Got my 144 studs back on the other day.Now have to work on get my skid parts painted, already got all bearings repacked, installing new bushings, stock rear shocks..then work on the front end, remove ohlins, flip shock bracket around to stock again, repair the dent in one trailing arm and repaint..it is nice getting all my sled stuff done now,so in the new season just clean carbs and ride...

:Moon: Dont call me your twin .......the only thing we have in common is yamaha sleds and the word blue peckerhead.
