So i have researched this for almost 2 years now trying to figure out what exacty i was going to do on this project. I have a 02' viper that was a 121 stock. I'm in the process of stretching it to a 144. My doner sled is a skidoo summit 144 skid out of a 2006 rev summit. This was not an X package sled so that being said i would think this suspension would be a bit softer.....I got the stock measurements for the doo skid from the guys over on dootalk. I verified with 3 different people to know for sure i had the right dimensions as far as mounting locations. I then transfered the dimensions to my viper and riveted in new support bracing where the new mounting locations would be. I measure 50 million times until i knew i was dead on and then drilled the holes. Well I got the skid in, it went in very smooth and looks great BUT...it seems way way way too stiff. I'm not sure if part of the reason is that i dont have the tunnel extension on yet to have more leverage when i push down on the rear but i literally can barely get the suspension to compress at all. Its mounted in the exact location as the rev it came out of as far as driveshaft to center and the 2 centers and then dimension from top of tunnel to centers. I am really lost at this point. I have ruled out a bad shock, if it was a bad shock i could still compress it, it would just be rebounding on the torsion springs on the rear. Any ideas anyone ? I can post pictures if this helps...I'm just so bummed because i thought i did all my hw and research. It literally installed as if it was built for this sled. Very flawless install and then i end up with this suspension that care barely compress. :whine:

Take some pics and post if you can. We can tell you if there is something up with the skid. IIRC the rear pivot arm can be flipped on that skid.

Is the track on it yet, or are you simply fitting it?

Also you can take the tension off the rear torsion springs (suspend the rear of the sled first) and then check to see if the suspension works properly.

My guess is the pivot arm is flipped forward.

Track is on, its not tight....but its on with some slack. Like i said, it looks and seems to be sitting perfect (the skid as a whole). I can compress the skid but it is very very very hard to do. In fact when lining up the rear mounting holes i had to put a ratchet strap on the tear arm to compress a bit to get the holes to line up. But to be honest, ive had to do that with every other sled ive own when lining the rear holes up.

i'm not sure about the springs.....bought the skid on ebay and was told it was "stock" and not touched. I took pictures last night and tried to post them via my phone but i always have issues posting on these forums because of size. I guess my first thought when i realized how stiff it was that the geometry was off. But then thinking about it, it is mounted exactly how it was on the DOO,even if it was a tad off...i cant see it being as stiff as it is now. Soon as i figure out how to resize an easy way, i will post the pictures

here are the pics.....

This is the sc4 "uncoupled" skid....not sure if it being "uncoupled" has anything to do with it as i have have never road an uncoupled skid. I have had many Doos with the SC3 SC4 and SC5 and i never remember any of my Doo's being this stiff when trying to compress the rear.

Have you tried it with the rear adjustment done up so the track is tight. There is a differance in weight back there as it sits now,and you could try softer coil over springs. The rear swing arm that is bolted to the rails might need to go to the forword holes if that is possable ...might help if it is too vertical and binding at start of compession.
