I took the clutch out of my viper with 8000 miles on it last night and am wondering if I need to replace my bushings. I imagine that even a new one has some play in it but I would like people who work on them all the times opinions. I took a video which I think shows everything pretty clear and put it on youtube. http://youtu.be/aSiRWVwJh-Q

I'd at least replace the sliding sheave and cover bushings. I don't know if u can get the bushings for the weights might have to replace them.

I am going to do a HC set up this summer so I will be replacing the weights anyways. I am also wondering about the rollers, they spin nice, don't have any play except side to side and look flat. I was thinking about just replacing the washers on the sides and cleaning them up?

I would have all your bushings replaced. The rollers will need to be changed with the heel clicker set up anyway. Most heel clicker set ups run a larger roller. If not they look fine. I had to have a dealer replace the bushings on the last clutch i did as i dont have a way to remove the spider.

Yikes, putting HC on a 8000 mile clutch? Please, do not. The HC requires a spotless primary, with like new components. I believe it is harder on the sheaves than a conventional set up, because of the added squeezing force. Please, get a new primary before you install the HC set up.
