Nytro skid swap (hole locations?)
Edit: I have now purchased a dual-shock 121" Nytro skid for my 2002 Yamaha SX Viper. Where should I drill the holes? I've found tons of monoshock swap threads but very few on the fx Nytro swap. Does anybody make a template? I'd prefer to keep my seat as low as possible.
Edit again: I've found a stock Nytro hole diagram that someone else had posted, but they said they ended up making different holes closer to the seat (no drop bracket used in the rear). No word on where those holes were, but at least I know it's possible

Why go with a nytro skid? Heavy. If your gonna do a swap I would go with something other than the nytro skid

I have no stake as i have and never one. But if i was to a scIII or mono would be my choice. Both have tons of upside and the swaps sound very easy with tons of info on location for bolt holes. Which is the worst and scariest part of the swap for me and most im sure. Woops just relized and sorry for the hyjack!!

Mono was my first choice but they're harder to find and more $$$. My sled's relatively light, with no electric start and a bender can, so I'm not worried about the weight (especially if it's more durable). For reference, last season I rode a stock 2001 V-Max with non-rebuildable shocks... talk about "no-action"
Something doesn't feel right to me about using a Doo or Cat skid

The Nytro skid weighs 68.8 pounds on a digital shipping scale. Another user said their original Viper skid weighed 72 pounds with w-arm reinforcements.

Those nytro skids are bad for blowing out the front shock, just an FYI!!

Crazykid, thanks for the heads-up! I just looked into it and AFAICT mine won't have that problem. It's an RTX SE skid, which has different shocks than the base Nytro (larger bodies with adjustable compression and rebound damping). It also has reinforced rails and arms! Maybe that's why it's so heavy :/

I just weighed my stock skid @ 71 pounds, so I'm saving 2 pounds with this Nytro skid. Not bad IMO, the Nytro skid is tougher too.

Collapse both rear wheel adjusters on both skids and line them up side by side with the rail tips of the skids even at front.
Have the viper skid mocked up to mimic how high it was sitting in the sled before you removed it and the axles match the distance for holes in the tunnel.
Now just measure the differance of the top rear holes ....thats the large wheel axle on top from the nytro to your skid and that will tell who where the half moon washer will have to be changed to keep proper track install and adjustment.Hope this helps it has always worked for me on the rear ist time every time.

Does it matter that the Nytro has "2 inches" of additional travel?
How would you position the front arm? Keep the hyfax parallel to the ground? The old skid was a bit lower in the front, but the front strap was very loose.

Actually i screwed up you keep the rear wheels even not the rail tips but i think the skids are the same lenth anyway if you know what i mean.
Yes keep the rails flat on the ground you will likely have to pull up the adjusters on the nytro skid because that sled sits higher than a viper in the front were the skis are.
I would do the back holes bolt it in and look for the best spot to drill the front there is alittle room up and down but the lip on the coolers are there and you have to leave room for the track and protecters when you go up.5 1/2 from the top down i think works with the front origanal brackets moved back.
