It's been an eventful past few days here in Boscobel, wi. It has been raining almost not stop since the beginning of april making it very difficult to get crops planted and hay made as the ground was completely saturated. The rain took a major turn for the worse though. We got about 2 inches of rain friday morning which wasnt too bad, but friday night into saturday morning we received another 8 inches of rain, which along with power outtages, led to severe flooding and sewage backups. Everyone worked all day yesterday to pump houses out, clean out flooded vehicles and try to rebuild roads, fences and bridges that were destroyed. It was all for nothing though as another 6 inches of rain last night destroyed any progress that was made yesterday and washed out many more roads and bridges.

Fema and the red cross are here and i have heard reports that over 600 homes in Boscobel had water in them which is pretty significant in a town of 3300 people. Many people have lost belongings, livestock, crops, buildings etc, but no lives lost.

Here is a link to a facebook page with a compilation of flood pictures from the past few days if anyone is interested in seeing the damages.

sorry to here this.It seems that there is a lot of rain dumping in different parts of the Country there and here and around the inches plus at once.In the City here last week there was an isolated dump of rain, came so fast..business's ,Church's,house's were getting soaked. In Calgary they had so much rain and it all coming down the mountains..shut the entire City down and still down.Their one stadium which is lower sunk has water up to row 8...about 15 feet deep.We just had a heavy rain a few hours ago, thank God it only dumped 1.5 inches..but more to come.We need the rain as it has been hot..but I don't want them heavy downpours in a hours time type of rain..
You know the climate is changing when Alaska is getting 30 plus C. and people are swimming in their lakes and such.It usually is cooler up there..remember all the ice is melting to raising water levels.
I just can't see having 6 to 8 inches of rain all at one time.We had 4 inches once years back, and I had water pouring through all my basement windows..and I am built high. The eaves just couldn't take it away fast enough and it just dumped against the house filling up my window wells.Know I have 4 pumps, one in each window well just in case.Good luck to you guys and get some Sun soon to dry out.

Man that sucks, sorry to hear that guys. I saw that stadium on the news yesterday...were supposed to get rain for the next 7 days straight!! I doubt it will happen but ya never know. We were supposed to get some today with a thunderstorm too...didn't get either of them. Hot n humid like crazy today, I think with the humidex it was about 40 today

we had a landslide over the weekend that blocked one of the main highways coming into town. It was cleared on sunday and the hwy was re-opened. Well, today it let loose again. This time a much larger slide covered the hwy. The new slide is 25 ft high and 200 yards along covering the highway and it is estimated to take several days to get the hwy re-opened.

In the below photo, the pile on the left side is what was cleared sunday and the road is covered by the new slide. On top of it all rain is forcasted for the next 3 days here. I also posted a link to a short article about the slide.

And to think that last summer was one of the worst droughts we've ever had. This weather is crazy

yep we had bad droughts as well last 2 summers, now back to more rain..but we have not been in high volume rain so far, something tells me it just may happen yet..The World climate is changing and in a lot of cases a lot of rain in a short period of time.In the Calgary area that had excess of 300 ml of rain up in the mountains. When it came down it also melted alot of the snow pack and then it was a wall of water and debris pushing everything out of the way.Cars and houses were just moving with the water..bad picture..

It has been crazy weather for sure. We did not see nearly the flooding and rain as you have but the worst since great flood of 1986. I remember as a kid taking the boat up and down the neighborhood roads. Stay safe.
