how to fix broken gas cap?

on the 1980 exciter I picked up the piece of plastic that holds the part of the gas cap that moves broke. I tried to JB weld it but it didn't hold - has anyone else used something else that worked?

I would look at just buying a new one from royal distributing. theyre probably $10-$20 bucks for a new one.

The tank is polypropylene. No glues will stick to it. Welding is the only fix for them. Wasn't a common problem with that sled and 78-81 Exciters all used the same tank so I'd just find another.

Should not be hard to find.

Went through this with my Apex, broke the neck right off the tank. Just find a different tank.
