more clutch questions

I removed the primary cover and spring this morning. The sliding sheave has about 2mm of lateral movement on the shaft if i wiggle it back and forth. Is this too much play? it seems sloppy to me

also, what is best way to clean the clutch, it is very dirty, brake cleaner?

Yeah that sound like your inner bushing is shot thats why you where having problems with it engaging low. If I was you I would rebuild the whole clutch from top to bottom

I just soaked my clutch in HOT soapy water and a little elbow grease works great
