I just got a set of silencers that were once hauck growlers for an srx. I want to fab them back. Can anyone send me some detailed photos of what a hauck growler should look like so I have somewhere to start. My email is cwagner100@yahoo.com and that would work best for pictures.

Thanks
Chris

chris there is accouple shots of those on youtube. even with sound. i don,t use any of those cans. all power robbers on a srx, and i am to old for noise. 3:16 (YAMMIE TONY)

Thanks Jeff!! I thought they came closer together at the bottom to exit out stock hole? Guess they truly are race pipes. Fab them back together and save for future project. :)
Ill check out YouTube to see what I can dig up there too.

I believe the picture staggs attached is the "newer" ones. From what I read, the old or original ones dumped out in a cluster of three through the original exhaust hole.

At least that is what the ones on my sled do. If you need any other photos, I have the sled sitting out in the garage and can snap a few for you.

Thanks,

Steve

That silencer looks very similar to my pro-stock 700 silencer w/ race pipes..

the silencer that I need to have fixed go's out the stock hole..

Chris,
the set pictured is their current "race" version, they were on a sled I bought with stock pipes. If there are new and old versions like dragonsm stated then it would be best to find out what version yours origionally were. You got them from snowdad4 right? great guy, i'm sure he'll help you out as best he can, I'd ask him if they origionally exited in a cluster or inline and go from there.......In the end I'm with yammiegod, I'd rather be quiet and fast than loud and slow any day.

here's the only pic I have of the set I just sold. hopefully it helps.

Looks just like the set of growlers on my 01 SRX.....Extra holes drilled and LOUD! Sounds GREAT at idle but too loud for me on a all day ride......Just gets obnoxious after a while....just my .02

Yea the ones I have originally exited though the stock hole. Always liked the sound of them. Probably will use it once then get sick of it but might as well get it out of my system.

I've included a few pictures of the first or original growler stingers on my sled including the bottom end dump put on the sled by the original owner at hauck motorsports.

You'll easily be able to tell if you have the originals or the other version by looking at the pictures and looking at whether the exhaust tubes are long or not. (or at least that is what I noticed first)

Sorry about the pictures...but I am juggling taking photos of those and a 5 month old just beginning to cut teeth....and regardless of how loud the growlers are......they are no where near a 5 month old cutting teeth! ;)!

The growlers could use a coat of paint....and the engine could use a bit of polish....but time is a precious commodity. :WayCool: With temps in the mid/upper 90's this next week...I probably have a few more months to do a little cleaning on the machine before the snow flys....or at least I hope it flys this year in South Dakota.

If the photos read true to you having the old school one's and you need further information, just let me know and I'll try and help you out best I can. Hell, I'll take them off.....it'll give me a chance to clean them up and give them a shot of paint. ;)!

the first pic, are original dyno port silencers for the srx, they have a plate that goes into the bellypan and you drill 2 holes for them.
As most of you know dyno port is who made the bender pipes for bender,so yes they could be also known currently as the benders, but benders srx silencer was a 3 into 1 big nickle can that exited out the stock hole for the srx.
Those are the same silencers except the small donut end connection as the big bore and race pipes ran from bender which again were built by dynoport.

The other pic is the "hauck" silencer which was a group of 3 pipes silencers which went out the stock hole, those were built by Jeff Simon at CPR for hauck.

most of the bigger companys never really made pipes they had other places make them,to thier specs or whatever and put thier name on them

Jeff, yep, more then likely. Alot of differnt companys had made pipes and silencers for hauck, he must go with who gives him the better price to produce them and apply his name tag.
For example cpr used to make the srx hi rpm race pipes which actually were skidoo 600 triple pipes made to fit a srx chassis for hauck and also the viper pipes(hushers) were just cpr pipes with a hauck name stamped in top pipe instead of CPR stamped in top pipe.
He (hauck)then went to Aaen for his supplier of the viper husher pipes, I am unsure of the current maker of srx race pipes, I lost track. You can see the differance in the pipes by the suppliers and makers thru differnt years of the pics from differnt years catalogs.

Long ago I had that original dynoport, 3 long silencer on a srx years ago around 99-2000, you wont sneak anywhere with that on((LOUD)).....lol. Mine said dyno port made right on the side strap, the name tag was just simply welded there.

I dont honestly know on that dynoport unit, never did any research/testing with it, it was only on my sled for a few rides. I removed it and sold it to someone who wanted alot of noise....lol. I think my ears rang for a day or 2 after that ride.

yamaha did such a good job on the original exhaust system, Jeff Simon conversed with me there was nothing to gain, he spent a bunch of time on building and dynoing srx pipes and such and could only muster like 2hp gain, which isnt enough to justify a set of aftermarket higher cost pipes. They could certainly make the pipes and exhaust system lighter in weight but hard to actually increase hp output.

Olav Aaen told me the same thing around 2000-2001, "yamaha did thier homework on the srx exhaust".

i liked the power inc can the best. i am hard headed with both my srx,s and won,t shelf the stock box. works too good. i have had afew bender cans , all gone. good trade bait. 3:16 (yammie tony)

funny what time does to memory. for some reason i seem to think those stingers ran vertical originally. you may be able to tell on the outlet side if they were altered there. i do recall altering the inlet side and recall the welds indicating such.

when i bought those stingers for that sled, i instantly cut the strapping off connecting the three as to have individuals. look for tell tale signs there. made a few notes and markings and from there the sled and stingers went to the local muffler shop(sponsor) and were altered to fit the pogo chassis.

unfortunately they have been sitting in my shop for years as that project was dismantled over 10 years ago.

hope you can revive them. think outside the box. mock them up in the vertical position, aim for the stock belly pan outlet, and i would start by correcting the inlet side. here if you need me.
