My 2000 Yamaha 600 triple SXR needs a new carb switch and right throttle switch handle 3. I ordered these parts online, so I'm wondering if anyone can give me instructions on how to replace these 2 parts from my sled. Dealer wants to charge 2 hrs labor to do it. Let me know.
thanks

Are you talking about the torrs system? Not sure what you have going on, need some more info.

Noticed during engine fogging procedure when we're summarizing the sled that the throttle override system would activate almost every time the RPM would get about 4000. Dealer said to repair this requires replacing carb switch and throttle bar switch. Carb switch part#87s-8259a-01-11 (old ski#87s-8259a-00-00). Switch, handle 3 (right) part#8av-83963-00-00. I ordered both parts online, and I want to try and fix it myself to avoid 2 hr labor charge at the dealer.

Did the dealer actually look at it? 99% of all torrs problems come down to a out of adjustment throttle cable. Usually too tight. Do a search on Torrs there are tons of info on adjusting and fixing. They very rarely fail. For a test to make sure its tour Torres unplug the switch back at the carb and plug the ends back into each other. This will disable the torrs for testing. Then if tour sled runs good work on fixing it from there.

This is a very good system by yamaha and should be pretty easy to solve your problem. Without knowing if your dealer actually looked at it and not being able to see it for myself or more info this should be a easy fix for ya. Try the bypass for DX but only to see if its your problem, then fix.
