Why do guys post wrong information to questions asked by people who are relying on getting the correct information??? Ya know, alot of guys take this information like the bible, they spend $$$money by it and fix problems with it. If you dont know the answer to be 100% correct, Dont answer it....., its simple. There is a ton of Questions asked, ALOT< I dont answer......I dont post a reply because I dont know for certain the correct answer. It does no one any good to get the wrong information. If I have not personally tried it, or worked on it, or had the exact same problem, and came up with a solution to correctly fix the problem, I dont Post on it!!!!. I have been noticing there is alot of this going on and from mostly a couple of younger guys. Is there a race to see how many post you can do or something?? Some of the guys have been members for less then a year and have 3 times as many as some of us who have been here since 2001.......... Maybe they need to read and learn something before posting wrong information on it!!! When I come to this site, I always had the notion that I was gonna get the correct information and right specs for something, thats what made this site great. Everyone makes mistakes, this is understandable, but over and over again, come on, quit typing and start reading, learn something. This is one of my petpeeves, Wrong information being spit out like crazy, no background to fall back on.... I am done now........

Being a longtime member/admin on another forum I've seen alot of information get posted. Often, people believe they know the answer and others may or may not correct them. It usually is not intended to deceive, but maybe they are just a bit mis informed or don't always post everything required. Often the questions do not contain enough info to properly explain their problem.
IMO a person trying to diagnose or solve a problem should do a bit more research then one or two replies to a forum if they require that much assistance
Just my $.02

you have to pick and choose who you will beleive and take advice from.
Unfortunatly I made the mistake of listening to many opinions and advice and ended up spending alot of $$$$$$ as you said and now trying to make things better with my sled which will cost more $$$$$. I am listening to Turk for clutching my machine since spending $350 on clutching that does not work properly. I did learn that my clutches were really not performing by reading posts on the site. I am reving at 9000 when I should be at 8500. Anyway not only dont answer what you dont know but chose the advice wisely, learn form this web site as there is tons of great stuff here but dont take all advice as the best you may be dissapointed.

Mich yamaha, I dont think they post to decieve, just to post, must be a race to see how many post someone can get. Like I said, i understand mistakes, hey i make them everyday, but if you dont know the answer to be fact, dont post it!! A good example of posting when you dont know the answer is right here today, a guy asked if the crank is the same in a 98 srx as to a 2000 srx, he got a reply of "yes, hey are the same", obviously the person replying has never ,ever in his lifetime had both cranks sitting next to each other.... they wont fit, the ends of the cranks are differnt, as are the bearings, and the case they sit in, now how would you feel if you went by this, and spent $500 on a crank to find out it wont fit??? I am not trying to single anyone out, but this is a prime example of what really gets to me.

ya that was me, I can't apologize enough, I coulda cost someone some serios money 'cause I replied from memory of the parts interchange section of the shop manual and got it wrong.
and you're right I've never had the 2 cranks side by side
moral of this storey is that I shoulda either double checked the book, or not replied at all.

I feel the same way as mrviper....I would rather you dont post if you dont have the answer. If I know or can help you to find the right answer I will post....

I tend to ask a lot of questions.... and hope for the right answer. BUT, if it's something I am 100% sure of, I'll answer others' questions. I know a LOT more about boats and big block chevy's than I do about snowmobiles... so I tend to save my long winded answers for the boat sites I am a member of (Offshoreonly.com, speedwake.com, and a couple of others).

I agree with Mrviper,
I think people should try harder to post only factual info. Especially on cut and dried issues. As far as opinions, you know the old saying! Regardless, It's usually good to hear all opinions, as long as they you can back up ideas with something. I think junoir brings alot of good ideas to the table, I don't think he would intentionally post wrong info, I think he just wants to be over helpfull sometimes. I do not condone bullshitt!

ya that's it I think vipertripplexxx, sometimes I think I'm sure on something and it turns out I'm not, this crank thing is a classic example, I shoulda checked the book on that one, but book wasn't here and he needed a fast answer that I thought I had
I feel SOOooo bad about that one tho, I coulda cost nystateboySRX some serios dough, and I really hope I didn't.
thanks for the props tho vipertripplexxx I appreciate that even tho I screwed up pretty bad you still think my opinion is valuable.

I shouldnt have singled you out junior, you just happen to post in the wrong place at the wrong time, I probally shouldnt have used you as my subject, it just fit the bill, proved my point what I was grypin about. I am sorry if you were offended by my blowing off steam. Its not only you, there are others, they know who they are......names dont need to be mentioned. Like I said, I dont think anyone is trying to decieve people, just if your not sure of the correct information, either go look it up or dont post. I make plenty of mistakes, and everyday is a learning process, hey we're human. Just wish some others here would try and learn instead of typing. By the way whats the prize for the most post.....lol!!! Experiance , be it good or bad, on something is worth a whole lot more then just a opinion without factual information to back it up. Peace guys...........

Hey 2000, good deal and junior also. We all are alittle guilty of speaking up even when we shouldn't. However they are facts and there are opinions, and sometime it wouldn't hurt if the posters even noted if they had real world experience or are just stating their opinion.
Hey 2000, what are we going to argue about next, any ideas? LOL

I am still thinking of a good one. lol
Hear is a thought, i have seen questions asked repeatedly about various mods and such. In which you will have with new members joining ty. they comb the site and then they start asking questions.
so why not have a FAQ link for say mods, supensions, tracks, skis etc. it would take the burden off of alot of us explaining how to do a specific task at hand. and if that isnt possible,if you know someone on the site that can help with a post at least refer the guy posting to him.like turk is great with clutching for example....

I will see if I can get an FAQ section like we have in the RX1 site up sometime this week...

Thats a good Idea there, I cant even count how many times I've seen questions about handlebar risers, and I'll admit I asked the same question myself.REDMATER said:Hear is a thought, i have seen questions asked repeatedly about various mods and such.
