Have gotten to know the SRX's fairly well, New to the Viper. Some of these questioned I could figure out looking at the 04 viper S I recently picked up BUT the proposed "donor" viper is an 02 (shouldn't have DCS?) Any ways, Any one know what hurdles I would have to jump to put motor from 01 srx 700 in 02 viper 700? Keeping mind I want o2 viper speedo functional I should stick with viper wiring. Will/is stator/pick up same? as in viper harness plug into srx motor? Or would I have to put viper stator on srx engine? TPS same on both? Seems to me viper manifold wouldn't bolt to srx style cylinder???? From what I have read cases/crank/rods should be interchangeable...pistons? Any one already done this?

Not sure if this is all correct but the viper and srx motors basically the same. The differance is the port timing CDI box and the head I believe.

pm kirkswim as he had an 01 srx motor with viper jugs in his 02 viper for 2 seasons.

the bottom case is the same for the viper and 01 srx. main difference is the crank weight as the vipers is lighter. we found that the srx motor had more torque than the viper motor. I know kirk ran stock viper carbs, the same clutching and all the viper electronics in his.

I have a 01 srx that runs great...overall appearance is a 6-7 on a 10 scale. Ran across a 02 viper that is minty clean, e start and reverse with a smoked motor.......don't need a 8th sled!

cylinders are differnt, exhaust is differnt cdi is differnt, so you can use the entire srx engine set up in the viper but the exhaust swap will make you cut the bellypan on viper to use triple pipes. The exhust manifolds and stuff is all non interchangeable as not only is the exh bolt patternt differnt, its also differnt lengths because the cylinders are differnt. viper use oval exahust srx has round.

youd also have to use the srx cdi and then use a resistor tyo trick the water temp sensor. theres lots of info on this set up on this forum from betheviper over the years.

the short answer is ...NO, it doesnt interchange......

yes but if you put the viper jugs on the srx motor, it works fine with the viper cdi and y pipe.

right, but he said the viper motor is fried, so i would guess the cylinders are no good......basicly the only thing that interchanges is the crankcase and the crank, stator, rest is all differnt!
