I found a good deal on a full set of viper shocks, first of all will they fit?
And secondly, would it be an improvement?
Thanks!

I THINK (emphasis on think) they would roughly be the same. The Viper/Venture/SxR shocks/trailing arms are commonly used to long travel the SRX(suggesting they would be roughly the same). Damping/spring rates may be slightly different but you could have yours re-worked for less than buying another set I would guess. Seems to me that the later year vipers had a better valving from the factory....I THINK.

Thanks for the reply!
The shocks on my venture are non rebuildable (and pretty worn I'd say)
I just wasnt sure if they would fit.I had kinda figured on having them revalved anyways.
Again, thanks for the reply !

I guess the Viper shocks are aluminium KYB's right? Yes, they will actually work, the stock shocks on that VT are gone, they were buillt to last 800 miles.

Thanks for the reply! Gonna pick them up tonight!
Are you talking about the rear shocks? I'm pretty sure they will fit, not sure about the front end.

I have revalved Viper shocks, all 4, on my 01 Venture. Get them revalved by a reputable vendor and you'll be very happy!

Awesome thanks guys!
Just picked them up tonight!Smoking deal $150 for all four, BRAND NEW IN THE PACKAGE!
Boxed up as a "shock kit"?
Was thinking maybe it was a softer ride setup for 02 vipers when they first came out?

Yes, that was Yamaha's response to those of us who bought 02 Viper's. You can try them, but they'll still be too stiff for a plush ride on your Venture. They are still a fairly stiff shock. Needs multistage valving to work like they should. And, by the way, I paid the same $150.00 for those replacement shocks lol! I ended up replacing fronts and the rear shocks with Ohlins. THEN my Viper rode he way it should have from the factory.

Cool!I was expecting to pay close to that for a piece o crap new Kimpex gas bag shock though
My existing skid shocks are completely gone. They have to be an improvement lol...I was hoping the sleds extra 67 pounds plus me being about 285 geared up might put them in the ballpark stiffness wise?I should just bite the bullet and get them revalved this year I know but i hate the thought of rebuilding brand new shocks

Not sure where he is in Canada but our Canadian brother typically are whacked a little harder on pricing. So paying same as you did in US seems like a deal to me.
Put em and go from there, we all have our own preferances. Even if they are a little stiff would it still not be an improvement from where your at?
