this is for a vintage mod stocker 440 srx. I understand this is the new forum not the vintage but really doesnt matter what crank you bolt this on. Has anyone seem and advantages to running this new yamaha apex primary that that polaris P85 when you can run like p1 weights and A3 and such.
Also do you think the yamaha apex secondary is better than the polaris ?? You can get cams for both cheap. With some minor changes the apex secondary will fit on a 77 srx jackshaft... a polaris needs a key way. i have ran all these secondarys on different mod sleds. But i want your guys thoughts.
Also if i run a new yamaha primary what style weights do you think would be a great drag weight for 500 ft. has to be very heavy on heel for some major hole shot power. I was thinking possibly a 92 vmax 750 weighTS Obviously i will need to grind the weights down to like 30's grams. NY

I WILL SAY THE YAMAHA PRIMARY, THE YAMAHA SECONDARY BECAUSE THEIR IS A GOOD HELIX SELECTION NOW AND I WOULD USE AND WORK WITH 8AB. SIMILAR TO THE 8BU-00, GREAT FOR DRAG RACING. NOW WITH THIS POSTED, I NEVER EVER USED ANY OF THIS STUFF ON MY OLD SRX,s. so guessing here. 3:16 (YAMMIE TONY)

not up to date on the newer yamaha clutch's,i do know there is a kit to run comet/cat and polaris weights for them.
as far as the secondary clutch,Aaen has written favorably about them, seems to be quite a few cams for them.
i'm hoping to run one on my gpx superstocker oval sled this winter, can the stock jackshaft be used and what kind of mods are needed? or would it be easier to have a new one made?

The two primaries are both very good. I would choose by what tuning parts I had readily available. The Yammi secondary is very good! I would not change it other than to go to a larger diameter secondary.
