Hi all, i purchased some bender reed spacers for my 2000 sx700r. i noticed that it only came with one set of gaskets. do i need gaskets on both sides of the spacers? if not there is only a gasket between the crankcase and the spacers, and nothing between the spacers and the reed cages themselves. does anyone know if thats how its supposed to be?

I reused the gaskets that were on the sled, plus the new gaskets. They should come off in one piece. Use a gasket shellac or sealer spray when reusing them.
thats the only unfortunate part. when i was taking the reed cages off the pto side cylinder, it tore because it was so stuck to the crank case. i guess i will have to get another set

I can't figure out how to cut and paste an entire thread. So, go into my profile, threads started by me (COB), and go to GASKET MATERIAL.

fwiw, buying a set of reed gaskets is going to put you out ahead in the long run than trying to cut them yourself. cutting gaskets sucks on a good day when you have the proper tools. Trying to do it free hand with a razor knife and no punches for the holes will just end in frustration. I'd rather have peace of mind that a gasket I made isn't leaking, causing a lean cylinder and leading to a burn down.
