So here's the story.
-last year I ended up having to put a little bit of 87 octane gas in the viper when I normally run 91. Well the DCS light would flash every now and then and bog the machine. After that trip I came home drained as much of the gas as I could. Filled it back up with premium gas and then added some octane booster for good measure. So that fixed the DCS light/big problem.
Well I was cleaning up the engine compartment as I was going to try to sell the viper last spring, but noticed one of the engine mounting bolts had sheared. So then came the project of removing the sheared bolt and installing a new bolt and engine mount bracket. Got that all said and done and squared away.
So then I got cocky I suppose and tried fixing my handlebars. They have a riser on them(I'm not sure how any inches) and have always had that riser on them, from the time I bought it from the previous owner. The handlebars had always been loose to an extent of if you landed hard the handlebars would come forward and you'd have to yank them back into place. Well I bought new bolts and tighten them down so that would happen again.
Now if you have read all this your wondering why I haven't addressed the idle issue! It's not the idle screw as it is as tight as it can go. If I loosen it say 4-5 full turns it idles to the point of engagement.
I have taken off my airbox inspected everything, replaced a torn carb boot and assembled everything soundly and still the high idle issue remains. The only way I can get it to idle around 1900rpm is if I choke it out. Then sometimes it'll hold there till ill blip the throttle.
Does anyone have any clue as to whats wrong with this viper?!?

sounds like a lean idle circuit. Have you cleaned the carbs? where are your idle mixture screws set? what jets are in it? Also if your idle speed screw is all the way tight then you are raising the idle speed not lowering it.

actually is this new since you messed with the handlebars? If I remember right the Mt Viper cables are a 1 into 2 cable and the top half can get pulled out of the joint and pull the cable some.

Finally found where the throttle cable was dislodged! Thanks for the help!

On my 04 the plastic socket at that joint broke in half and the cable wouldn't stay straight. It didn't give me any issue but it made me nervous so I replaced it. It's kind of a cheesy design.
