I hope this isn't a re-post or redundant post. I just want to clarify Stator values on a 98-01 MSRX and possibly the Mountain Max 700. I recently found out mine was bad and there was more than just one test to accomplish. I only found one so far on this website. There are three.
You will most likely need to remove the pipes and silencer to access these wires, but they will be where your pull start ends in the side panel with the "YAMAHA" emblem on it. Check the wires as follows;
Pulsar Coil
White & Red - White & Green
210 Ohms +/- 10%
Charge Coil
Brown - BLACK & Red
435 Ohms +/- 1%-10%
Brown & Red - Black
86 Ohms +/- 10%
I found the 435 Ohm Charge coil on my sled was a complete open. I do not have a service manual for my sled, so this was very helpful to hear once I found out what the values were supposed to equal. I would still suggest you pick up a manual though. A riders best friend.
for further clarity, the lighting coil is the last spec you listed and the color codes are brown/red wire to black.
any yamaha triple after 97 and pre-2001, 500, 600, or 700 will share these specs, except 2000 and up srx. 98 and 99, including msrx apply.
2000 saw the dual headlight set up along with the higher output ignition, other models followed in subsequent years.
Thanks and fun sledding to all,
Jake
