So I just bought another vmax. It's a 94 dx. I took a compression test today and i got 140 on the clutch side and can't get 50 on the other side. It had oil in the reservoir although it was a little low. It starts right up and seems to run ok, although I have not ridden it yet. This is my third vmax, I have two 96's I always thought it was the clutch side that went bad? So what do you guys recommend on doing next? Popping the top and seeing what it looks like inside? What's a top end rebuild cost if I'm only looking at pistons rings and maybe a hone or bore?
Could look for damage in the carb or exhaust ports to see before ripping the top off.

Ya. That's a good idea. Seems weird to me. Both plugs looks clean. Wouldn't there be some discrepancy between the two plugs? Maybe it needs more cowbell

Got to pull the head, that is a big difference. If its new to you who knows what the plugs are from or when changed. Its a yamaha it will run on one and depending whats up the the second? Best bet is to pull the head and see whats up.
