When I bought my 01 SRX last year I had to convert a lot of stuff back to trail use where it was a drag sled before, and the previous owner had the fuel system set up so that the oil tank was his gas tank.I've used the sled for a season now and there's been a nagging question in the back of my mind since last year; will gasoline degrade/deteriorate the plastic that the oil tank is made of?I know most plastics will stand up to both oil or gas but there are some that react with gas in a way that they become brittle. The tank seems to have held it's integrity so far the only REAL issue I have with it is the fact that's it's discolored from having pre mix gas in it and just looks kind of bad.I've pretty much made up my mind that I'm going to change it just for aesthetic reasons if nothing else but am still curious if anyone has found that gas will have an adverse affect on the plastic or not.

I have no answer to your question but do have an oil tank if you need it for cheap

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the tanks are made of polyethylene which is impervious to both gas and oil of all kinds (well, maybe not all, but anything that will go remotely close to your sled). The oil tanks stain naturally even with just oil. Arctic Blue will stain tanks noticeably blue as well as other oils that have a rich color to them. I don't think Yamalube stains the tanks as bad due to it being very transparent in its green color. Mix gas in with the oil and it may POSSIBLY make the tank a little more susceptible to staining but it won't affect the structure of the tank. Ever notice how the transparent white gas tanks slowly turn brown? Hope that gives you some insight.
Do you know what the guy ran for oil? And I'm assuming race gas? Maybe the lead in race gas has some affect also?

Dunno if this helps but... I've been using a spare SRX oil tank for gas on my snowblower since the tank cracked and I couldn't find a replacement... 3 years now no issues LOL!
