Alright so brought the old vmax home the other day and started doing some mods. However I am looking to see if people get these things to wheelie with out triple pipes etc. My mods are reed valve cage mod, 2 layer headgasket, will be running pod filters this year because I break air boxes too often, and I have a 1.5in camoplast challenger track. I have no real desire to go fast... If I hit 80mph that's fine as I enjoy riding powder. Wondering what people are using for gearing/clutch springs and helixes to walk?
My current clutch and gear set up is listed in my signature.
Thanks guys!

Adjustable transfer rods would help alot.

I had a bad experience running pods on a 700 Indy. They make the jetting very unstable because of the fluctuating under hood temperatures. In deep snow you can actually create enough steam off the pipe to stall the engine. Others all chime in but it is all around well established that they are a bad idea. Stick to the stock air box.

Not bashing, just asking, but how is it you break the airboxes?

X2 I was wondering the same thing. Burned up my Polaris with pods on it, plus I have seen the same subject come up a few times since I joined here a few years ago.
Apologize me for my ignorance, but I am scandinavian and I cannot understand what the word "slut" is in this context?

It's the only thing more fun to ride than a sled!norwegian said:Apologize me for my ignorance, but I am scandinavian and I cannot understand what the word "slut" is in this context?

That's a good question just used to being around terminology like track whore and drift slut haha... Kinda rubbed off I guess. I will have to figure out an intake system but I've broken 2 air boxes because for whatever reason I thought I was Chris Burandt trying to be a show off and I kinda killed my sled. Landed right on the bars etc... But yeah anyways does anyone have a setup for pulling skis everywhere?
Transfer rods, set up on max.transfer, tightened front shock in rear suspension, loosened rear shock, limiter straps on full length. You won't get much further than that with a pro-action. Maybe a MPI transfer kit is the next step, but not sure if it work with a short track.

Grind or torch the stopper washers on your stock rods right off and weld some new ones on makeing a 2 inch gap then adjust were you want by adding those plastic washer blocks .You want around 1/12 gap for what you want. And do what norwegan has said. The front of the sled should lift up when you sit on it for the best wheelies.

hell if all you want it to do is wheelie, take the transfer bars off. I wouldn't think it would be very good at doing anything else at that point though

Well like I want it very tippy so the stabilizer bar is getting yanked out. I never trail ride. Just like deep snow and lots of trees and hills and such. I know I should probably just buy a different sled like a mountain viper or nytro mtx but... I kinda bought an engagement ring instead so just gonna try and have fun with this thing.

Those chassis dont "wheelie" worth a crap, which makes them desirable to most. A different skid will net the results you're looking for.

so even if I ditch the transfer rods or really modify them and set it geared very aggressively the skis will just try and stay down mainly because of the skid design? Perhaps i need a Skud Skid... those yellow pieces of junk always seem to be able to pull the skis like nothing.
And yea... I could have got a ton of piston rings instead actually had a 2013 nytro xtx 1.75 all spec'd out but i couldnt pull the trigger. Oh well maybe next year.

You wanna make the slut dance do ya? I have a brand new aet of yamaha oem drop down bracketts for ur rear skid. U have to drill new mounting holes sets ur rear end higher. I put a set of them in a 99 srx i have here w a 6" riser viper front end. She is tippy but alot of fun for just playing. Can email u pics if you interested in setup on a sled and pics of new ones i have

Anyone have good recommendations for clutching and gearing? I'll be switching to a 51/43 helix. Probably going to have my gearing set up around 18/40. Recommendations for spring setups. Current springs are listen in my Sig.
Thanks
