I have a viper clutch with the gear on the bk of it for reverse. Can I take the gear off and use the clutch on my srx? Is the clutch balanced with the gear on it? Just worried about the clutch balance.

You can remove the ring gear without effecting the clutch balance. They're balanced before the ring gear is attached.
FYI..........to keep the ring gear attached to the clutch they use a very strong Loctite compound on the set screws that hold the ring gear on. Be sure that you have the exact size hex to use on the screws and heat them up before you try to loosen the screws.

chris no problem. those screws that hold gear on are a bitch to get out though. get a impact driver on them. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I don't think the ring gear is for reverse I think it's for e-start but all the same you can take the ring gear off and not effect anything.
