Hi.
I just bought myself a used set of Hauck ceramic pipes the CPR version and a new opticool headgasket.
And i have no idea how to set it up as this is my first yamaha (used to be a polaris rider).
Ridingstyle: mostly offtrail.
Sled: sx Viper longtracked to 144 with a 1.75" track, 8" non-slip drivers and a extra rear heat exchanger. Otherwise stock
Altitude: 1500-3000ft
Temp: 15 - 40 Fahrenheit or -10 - +5 Celsius
I've heard that someone used a set up like:
Mains: pto160 center 160 mag 162.5
Pilot:47,5 and
raised needles to position 4.
what would be a good set up for me ?

if your still running the stock viper head youll be able to run the needle at 3.5 on the pto due to lower compression. On the center and mag youll be fine with 4th on needle, you need the extra fuel on those 2 cylinders as they are higher then the pto is. The mag cylinder is the problem child so keep a good eye on him.
its gonna be rich but it has to be to live.
rest of the set up is fine, run the best octane fuel you can get and youll be good.

Hi mrviper700
Thanks! Then i will try that set up! any thoughts about clutching, the characteristics Im looking for is quick backsshift and acceleration rather then high top speed.
And i thought about investing in a peak performance head from benderracing.com but is it worth it?

for clutching, i would run more weight at the base of the weight instead of the tip. Assuming you'll be off trail mostly, you're gonna want more back shift. get a steeper helix, 50ish to start. and tighten up the secondary. that's all i got for you til you test it out on the snow.
Mrviper is the guru so hopefully he chimes in.
PS throw up a few pics of the sled, i've been considering stretching my sled to 144

I bought some new rivets 17,2 ,13,9, 13,3 and 10,2 for the 8ek weights, I think i am going to try the stock setup in the secondery and primary with some more weight at the heel.
In stock mode im turning around 8500rpm and the hauck pipes should bring the rpms up to around 9000rpm with no weight added to the tip or am I wrong?
