vmax belt install help

put belt around primary, push in hard on helix to open the secondary, should go on easy from there. If need be elevate the rear of the sled and turn secondary by hand once you get it started until belt is on. Easier with clutch guard removed.

While working the belt over the top of the secondary it helps to turn the primary over, just keep turning and it should pop on.

your fighting a stiff spring that has alot of pre-wind. hit the gym or get ahold of rich motorsports(on here) for one of his belt change tools.

those stiff ones can be dealt with, just takes some oomph. practice in the shop, not on the trail.

I can make an easy how to vid for a laugh if youd like?

I like to see it just for the laugh!!. Did you try putting on parking break then pushing in on the helix with one hand then rotating the sheave with the other. Once the sheave is open its easy to hold open keeping pressure on the helix. Then slide belt on with other hand.

Like Super said, You have to push the inside sheave in while turning it to the right. Lock your brake before you start. Slip the belt over the primary, push inside sheave in while turning to the right. Once the sheave is in, slide belt over the secondary, release the brake and rotate the secondary to the right. Belt should fall right in.

I use the palm of my left hand to push on the inner sheave while turning it to the right with my right hand to get it opened. Once opened, I pull up on the belt to help keep it open while working the belt off. Using the same process for removal I push the belt down into the open sheave to help keep it open while working the belt around the backside.

Clear as mud?

I personally like to wait until the belt blows on the trail or lake, in the pitch black, then w/o a flashlight, pick the belt pieces out and unwind all the threads from inside the secondary. That's the easiest way to get the old belt out... As for the new belt it's just like everyone says. You'll need to lean into it a bit, but pushing the helix in while twisting it slightly is the way to open it.
