I have a 1989 yamaha exciter deluxe, I noticed an engine from a 93 exciter sx (with 6,XXX miles on it) for sale along with the clutch. Would the engine fit in my sled and still run well with the stock 89 VM round slides?

yes it will work and bolt in but the primary will not work with the stock secondary plus the ignitions are different you would need to install your stator and flywheel
